Weeeeee're back! Five cougars spent five fantastic days in WDW from October 24 to 28th. We laughed, we cried (tears of joy) and we ate (my dining reviews are in the dining thread). Here's day one!
We left Rochester on a direct flight at 7 a.m. When we checked in Kim realized she left her ID at Vicky's house, and Vicky's dad had to come back to the airport to give it to her. Lucky Vic lives close! We had plenty of time as there was no line at security so we grabbed some coffee and breakfast. We were seated alllll the way in the last row of the plane but we had a comfertable flight and watched direct tv. I really need to fly jetblue more often! We landed at 9:30 a.m. and went straight to Magical Express. I didn't know this, but you don't need to go to the check in desk uless there is a problem with the vouchers. We ended up waiting in line for 10 minutes to be told that we didn't need to be there, lol! It didn't matter in the long run because the bus wasn't there yet when we got in line for POP. The route has changed since last time because we stopped at Carribean Beach first and then POP second. The bus also took the long way because is seemed to take much longer than usual to get on property. In general the Disney Buses seemed to take different routes from what I recall from my last trip.
We checked in at POP and there was no line! We also got adjoining rooms and a free fridge when we requested it! We were already off to a magical start! Our room was in the 50's section (4 years in a row for me in the 50's!) in building 2 behind the juke box on the third floor. It is the farthest I've stayed in the 50's section but I didn't really notice a long walk. We counted it and I think it took 250 steps to get to the food court. We went to our rooms and freshened up and made our way to the Magic Kingdom!
We got to MK around 2 p.m. Kim, Karen and I ran ahead of Zulela and Vicky. They were first timers and we wanted to get pictures of their faces when they saw the castle for the first time. Priceless! (I hope to have pictures up soon. We shared cameras and I was using my boyfriend's, so maybe by Christmas!) We walked down Main Street USA taking everything in and trying to decide what to do first. Kim and I took them down the alley on the right and shared with them some of the things we learned on our Keys to the Kingdom tour. Nothing that would ruin the magic, just details around the park to enhanse it! The castle show was beginning so we watched that and then decided to see how much we could get done in Fantasyland.
It was fairly crowded in Magic Kingdom today, which was sort of expected since it was the weekend. What wasn't expected was the 30 minute wait for Small World. We saw Philharmagic, which turned out the be Zulela and Vicky's favorite thing we did all trip, and Snow White. Then we got lunch at Pinnochio Village Haus and left the crowds to go on Haunted Mansion. Even the wait there was 20 minutes. We tried to see if Splash was doable but the wait was almost an hour. We did a fastpass for BTMRR instead and then went to Adventureland to ride Pirates and Alladdin's carpets. Back to BTMRR to ride, and then Vicky wanted to see the Country Bears. Woa. I had never seen this before on previous trips, so I was game. I still don't know what was happening in there! We about lost it when the sad bear started singing about "blood on the saddle." It became a running joke for the rest of the trip, lol!
After that we had dinner at Tony's. It was very yummy and we were able to see outside and watch SpectroMagic. Karen and Zulela left after dinner to go back to POP while Kim, Vicky and I stuck around for Wishes. I would have stayed by myself for it because it's my all time favorite fireworks! We then took a spin on Mad Tea Party, and since the crowds really hadn't calmed down and wait times were toward 20 minutes we decided to call it a night as well. We were beat!
Up next for day 2- Animal Kingdom and we get to hang out with Dan, our former student and now cast member!
Thanks for reading!
