Hammer- The Solo Tour- Day 5, part 2

I am not able to fall asleep this afternoon, so after resting for about 45 minutes, I decide to go over to the Contemporary and do a little window-shopping. I go down to the dock and the resort boat (which is the blue flag) is pulling in. The boat transportation at WL was excellent throughout my stay. Well, the boat is going to Fort Wilderness first. It seems it performs extra trips to the Ft. Wilderness starting 1-½ hours before the first HDD show and continues until the boats stop running. I believe this is more for the benefit of the folks staying at the Contemporary, as WL has Boone and Crockett buses that stop there, will take you to the campgrounds too.

Well, I get to the hotel and head up to the 4th floor to look around. They had really nice men’s polo shirts with the Contemporary logo on sale (Beth, it is the same shirt I saw Steve wear at the Baltimore meet) , but they did not have my Dad’s size. Would have loved to have bought it for him, as the Contemp is his favorite resort. He is a civil and structural engineer, so the design fascinates him. Nothing else is in my price range and I don’t see anything else I like on the sale rack.

Now, I need to make a decision. It is around 5:00. I have a few dining options. I could put my name in at Chef Mickey’s or Concourse and wait to eat or go to Epcot and eat in the WS before I meet Ian and Trish. I decide to go to Epcot, thinking I will have to wait too long if I eat at the Contemporary. Let me say, I should have stayed…

Anyway, I hop on the monorail, switch at the TTC and arrive at Epcot. No line for Spaceship Earth, so I hop on. Enjoyable, as always. Decide to go and ride TT and hit the Single rider line twice. I really enjoy this ride! Then off to the World Showcase to find dinner (it’s about 6:10). I decide to stick by our Illuminations meeting place to eat. Don’t feel like the Rose and Crown or Le Cellier (ate there last trip) and already ate at France this trip. Not in the mood to try Norway, so I decided to see about the San Angel Inn. Had I taken 2 minutes to look at the map, I could have tried Morocco, but of well. I go in and They are pretty much turning people away. They have 1 opening for 8:15. I told her I would wait for a table. She gives me a pager and I go look around. Well, I fonally get a seat at about 7:00 (about a 40 minute wait). This was the longest I waited throughout the trip, and I ate other meals without PS. The meal, however was good, but I kind of ate rushed, because I wanted to get outside to get a table for Illuminations. I pay for my meal and head out to the Cantina. It is about 7:50. I got lucky and grabbed what was the only table left and it was a really good view! Ian and his wife arrived about 10 minutes later and we sat and chatted, taking turns to go up and buy food, or in my case, a margarita and 2 churros. Illuminations was fantastic as usual! It is probably my favorite show, though I have not seen Fantasmic.

After Ian and I parted ways and I headed out to my bus back to WL. I had to wait 20 minutes, but only because I watched the bus pull away as I was running up to the stop. No matter, I wasn’t in a hurry. Once the bus arrived, headed back to the room, got my mug to go get some soda. This was a nightly ritual. I sometimes filled the mug 2-3 times. Anyway, I decided I would go and walk outside and take some pictures as this was my last night at WL . I got some really nice shots and I soaked my feet in the hot tub. After I went upstairs, sat on the porch for a few minutes, then decided to go to bed. I still had a full day at the parks, as I had a late flight out tomorrow.

Going home so soon! It's like you just got there!

Steve's shirt was on sale! Why is it never on sale when I am there!

    Cool

Christine, sounds like a very enjoyeable evening! Glad you lucked out on the San Angel Inn - we always eat at least one meal per trip at that place.

    Mmmmm...margaritas

    Thanks for another interesting chapter!

    Unhappy

Sorry I missed that mini-meet for Illuminations. I had hoped to work it into our schedule, but we ended up not being able to work DD in earlier in the week, so we were there that night instead.

Good reports! Got to go see if you've posted the next one!
