Honeymoon

I will be at Disney Sept 2-11 for my honeymoon. I have been at Disney for 6 times but always with a gruop of, at least 20 persons. Is the first time my fiance visits WDW (We have been to DL before).
I really would like to hear some suggestions from the experts Intercotees to make my honeymoon a really unforgettable experience.
We'll be at Port Orleans-French Quarter.
Unfortunately according to the Disney calendar of Sept, MK will close at 7PM on Sept 3-14) So we WON'T have Spectromagic or Fantasy in the Sky.
But I hope you suggest some options for this inconvenience.

Think positive...it might be a good thing that the parks are closing at 7:00 p.m. when you are there...you ARE on your honeymoon.

You said you will be there on Sept. 2nd. You won't be there in time to see Spectro and Fantasy in the Sky that night? Just wanted to add that I spent my honeymoon and first anniversary at PO-FQ. You will love it!

My husband and I just honeymooned at WDW this past December. Disney really trys to take care of honeymooners and you will have a fantastic time! We also stayed at PO-FQ...Make sure you request a water view!

Here's some things we did to help celebrate our honeymoon:

- I ordered a gift basket from Walt Disney World Florist to be in our room when we arrived. I ordered one with wine, etched wine glasses, fruit, cheese and crackers. It was a great surprise and nice to share after a long day of travel.
- We wore our Mickey and Minnie Bride and Groom ears everywhere! It helped us get some extra special attention and treatment from the cast members and other guests.
- I mentioned it was our honeymoon when making PS for meals. That way, we were often seated in the corner, in more secluded, romantic areas. It made dining even more special.

If I think of anything else, I'll be sure to share.

We just honeymooned at French Quarter, it is a great choice. We were in building 7, which is farthest from the pool, etc. We had a riverview and it was very romantic. Our room/building was secluded a little bit. Our room was 7148.

Take a trip to the spa at night when it is not busy, preferably when it is empty. Also consider dining at Victoria and Albert's if it is in your budget. It wasn't really in ours, but we made special room. It is a wonderful dining experience, and good food to boot.

Also, try to do e-ride nights if possible. When it isn't too busy, walking down main street looking at the castle change colors is romantic. If you can, try to find little secluded parts of MK on the e-ride.

And don't forget about the hidden secret trail at Animal Kingdom

Most of all, just relax and enjoy each other. After all the stress and planning for a wedding, you need the break and your mind to just relax and have a little bit of Disney magic and fun. Have fun and good luck!

My wife and I arrived at CBR on Halloween 1993. We were on our honeymoon. It was my first trip to WDW. It was great! I highly recommend it for a honeymoon. Disney treats you very well. We enjoyed many dinners at the fine restaurants of Epcot. My wife got to dance with MacGoofy at Canada (we still have the stuffed animal).

In addition to family trips, we have gone back for Honeymoon II the sequel, and are planning Honeymoon III the threequel.

Have fun. You have made a great choice and you will be there at a great time of year. The Park hours were no problem for us.

PS We rode Horizons MANY times on our Honeymoon.

And don't forget to tell the reservationist that it is your honeymoon when making the reservations. I did this when my wife and I stayed at the Poly for our honeymoon in '88 and we were greeted with a small bottle of chilled champagne and two glasses (we still have the glasses) when we checked in. We stayed there on a package deal and the moderate resorts hadn't been built yet. We had budgeted for our honeymoon for a while and had the adequate funds to do it right.

Another nice thing to do, if it still is up and running is the water parade. We would get something to drink and walk down to the beach or the pier and watch the electrical water parade. It was really nice.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon as well as our 5th anniversary at WDW. Both times we went over Labor Day weekend/ week and enjoyed it immensely. I would highly recommend eating at Victoria & Albert's. It makes for a special night out and you get to get all dressed up! We drank champagne on our balcony at the Grand Floridian and watched the Electrical Water Pageant a few times during our stay. We went to the Poly Luau and they had honeymooners come up on stage and do a little hula. And of course, we spent as much time in the parks as possible!

Since you said you are used to traveling with a large group, now is the time to slow down and enjoy more of those sit down dinners and try some new ones, enjoy the gardens at Epcot, use the spas, etc. You will have a wonderful time no matter what!

Don't pass up the especially romantic World Showcase at night - first of all, don't miss the fireworks-laser show. Almost any of the sit-down restaurants at WS are going to give you very special attention, especially if you tell them it is your honeymoon. We ususally opt for as LATE a reservation as we can get (even if it means being inside during the fireworks on that particular night) because nothing is more romantic than strolling out of WS after the park is actually closed. Almost deserted...lots of little nooks and crannys to kanoodle in!

I totally agree with WDWFRK - go to Victoria & Albert's. You have two servers to yourself, soft lighting, and someone playing a harp just to name a few things. It took my boyfriend and I 3 hours to have dinner there but it was my favorite moment of our whole trip.
