Default Converting film reels to digital

Has anyone used a service they'd recommend for converting old film reels and VHS to digital? Thanks!

Whenever I've checked into this it was way too expensive to even consider.

It is expensive! We just don't want to lose these memories. And we want to find a way to share them with the rest of the family. We know it will cost us, which makes it even more important that we find a place we can trust.

You don't happen to live in the Phoenix, AZ area do you? I have taken my stuff to the local postal and more over the years and whatever company they use has always done a great job.

For VHS, bought a vhs/dvd recorder. Worked well.

Thanks for the suggestions! We're in MI. For the most part, our options seem to be mail in services. What we mostly have to convert is film reels. The idea of mailing them off and hoping for the best is nerve wracking!

My friend owns a gun store, a cigar lounge, and a digital print business. He does a good job of converting the film over to dvd. Good Pop's Safari here in Texas if you are interested. Ask for Perry.

Hope I'm not breaking a rules, if so, please delete and I'm sorry. Don't banish me to an All Star resort.

Thanks for that recommendation Texas! I would love to have a place nearby that I could walk in and hand this stuff to someone. Part of the anxiety is the idea of packing it up in a box, sending it off and hoping for the best.

I'm from Detroit originally. I wouldn't take it there if you are worried about your videos

There is a gizmo for sale that would let you do it yourself. Cost is about $300. It is for sale by B&H online. No connection, just a satisfied customer. If you're interested, you ought to call and talk to one of their CS reps to make sure it will do what you want it to do. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...l?sts=pi&pim=Y

Thanks Stitchfan! We will look into that. I would certainly feel better if they don't leave my hands.
