    Lightbulb Tidbits October 2018

    Tidbits
    October 2018

    Refurb Kingdom

    10/16/18
The Magic Kingdom is extending refurbishments and announcing new ones from now into the New Year. The Liberty Square Riverboat refurbishment has been extended till December 22, 2018. Near by, Tom Sawyer Island closed for refurbishment on October 14th and is scheduled to re-open also on December 22, 2018. The popular Peter Pan’s flight is scheduled to close for refurbishment in the New Year. The Fantasyland attraction is scheduled to be closed January 7, 2019 through February 1, 2019. The longest closure comes in the form of a pit stop for the Tommorowland Speedway. To accommodate construction of the adjacent Tron Coaster, the attraction is scheduled to be closed January 2 through May 17th, 2019.

    Gourd Snack Ideas

10/16/18 Several out-of-the-way sweets spots are getting in on the Fall fun with signature seasonal sweets. L'Artisan des Glaces, nestled in the France Pavilion at Epcot, is offering a Pumpkin Spice Ice Cream Macaron. Over at Disney’s Port Orleans-French Quarter resort, the Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory has introduced Pumpkin Mickey Beignets.

    Increasing Imbibements

    10/16/18
The adult beverage options continue to expand at the Magic Kingdom park. Be Our Guest has recently added alcoholic beverages to its Breakfast and Lunch menus; joining its existing dinner offerings. The Fantasyland dining spots now offers Mimosa and Sangria options priced at $10.00 during breakfast seatings and a selection of beers and wines priced $8.50 - $11.00 during lunch seating’s.

    Wall to Wall Sweets

    10/16/18
Following in the sweet footsteps of the Purple Wall Slush, the Magic Kingdom has a second synergistic sweet. Purple Wall Cotton Candy has been introduced to Tommorowland. The mixed berry flavored confection is priced at $5 and can be currently found at its own cart next to the namesake wall.

    Höher als die Alpen

    10/16/18
A popular World Showcase dining spot’s recent changes may leave you saying ach du lieber. The Biergarten has recently changed to a single price for both Lunch and Dinner seatings. The new all-day pricing is $44 for Guests Ages 10 and up and $24 for Guests Ages 3 – 9.

If you need alcohol for breakfast, you are in need of serious help.

Especially at the Magic Kingdom... look, I've been known to enjoy some mimosas at brunch, but this is not the place for such offerings, in my opinion.

Just because it is on the menu does not mean you have to order it.

I agree. But my son and I did joke that maybe adults needed alcohol to make it through a day of screaming kids.

MK amen. I want a scotch at rope drop. When I'm on vacation, there is no clock for drinking, as they say, it's 5 oclock somewhere. I wonder what they'll have available to drink in the morning?

I look at it like tailgating. If tailgating, I'm drinking beer or whiskey at 8-9 in the morning, depending on the game.

January closures always have me wondering if the left hand knows what the right hand is doing. Marathon weekend is always the second weekend in January. Every year they close major attractions the first weekend in January. They literally promote an event that attractions 10s of thousands of guests and then close attractions. Can they not wait a week?

Often the right hand has no clue what the left hand has planned and is doing, and vice versa... but when uppers say close it, it closes no questions asked...

While possible to be a bureaucratic gaff, it has happened so many years in a row; I would wager that is (at least now) intentional.

The Marathon itself has become an attraction that draws huge crowds, so they may figure they can cut Operational costs early on several attractions and the hoards will come anyways because of the event.
