Question First time using dining plan next year - help!

We are going for 'free' dining next year as part of a trip to escape the English winter.

Now I know we get 1 counter and 1 table service meal a night with soft drinks. And some snack credits?

We don't have to use the credits each day do we? Can we save up for signature restaurants and not use another day?

And we have to pay 18% gratuity on value actually ordered at table service?

I'm sure I'll think of more questions. Never thought we would be doing the dining plan!

You get them as one lump bunch. You could, theoretically, use them all on one day.

You pay OOP for gratuity which gets charged to your MB.

Also, if you’re over 21 you can get an alcoholic beverage. Under 21 can get a specialty drink (like a smoothie) with QS or TS.

    Standard Dining Plan:

    1 table-service meal
    1 quick-service meal
    2 snacks
    1 refillable (Resort) mug

Meals and snacks are 'allotted' on a per NIGHT basis for your reservation. They -- CS, TS, AND Snacks can be used in any manner you choose --

2 TS can be combined for a 'Signature Meal' or individually. One or more per day until your allotment is finished.

CS can not be 'combined' for a TS, but can be used in any number until your allotment is finished. One note on CS, though...Some places will allow you to 'trade' one CS for up to 3 Snacks.

One 'adult' beverage is included, where available, for each meal -- TS or CS -- as of 2018. Of course, you have to have proof of age over 21.

Snacks are most single serving items under a certain amount. (I don't know what that amount is anymore, but they are marked on menus/menu boards with the DDP logo.

As far as gratuity goes, there is no set gratuity unless you are a party over 6. The 'check' WILL have suggested gratuities listed at 15%, 18% and 20%. Your choice...if you decide to leave one. Personally, I leave 20%, possibly less service is poor, and more if service is exemplary.

Haven't used the DDP in quite a while as I have been a solo traveler for the past 5 or 6 years and the DDP just isn't cost effective for the way I eat when solo.

We will alternate between CS days and a day with a Signature meal.

Remember any unused credits expire at midnight on your checkout day. A perfect use of unused meal or snack credits is snack souvenirs to bring home with you. My favorite places to do this is the Main Street Bakery and Zuri's Sweet Shop in AK. Both will package them for travel and they have many options to choose from.

You can pay for gratuity in cash when paying the bill - it doesn't get charged to your magic band unless you want to.
