Default How long between your trips to WDW?

I know this will vary wildly for many reasons, but I'm just curious. We've gone at least once a year for about 15 years, but this will be the first year that we won't be going, and we're probably not going next year, either. We're saving up our Disney Reward Points by putting everything on our CC (including a used car and our son's college tuition...don't worry, we have the cash to pay it off) and are planning to use it for an all expenses paid trip out to Disneyland at some point. But I don't know when we'll make it back to WDW. It's no longer a priority for our family.

After my first trip, it was 18 months (give or take) until my next visit. Since then, it has been pretty much once a year, until this past November when I got my first Annual Pass. This year (Nov. '17 - Nov. '18) it will be 3 trips.

Even if I renew my AP, which I undoubtedly will, I will probably go back to once or twice a year.

Beginning with our first trip in 1984 we went every 4 years until 1998! Those visits were with our daughter. After she went off to college we average going either every year or every other year!

We love our trips there, as a couple, and look forward to going many times more!

It used to be an every year occurrence for me. Now it isn't as pressing. I have a few things I'd still like to do (see the Christmas festivities, take my son to see the new Star Wars stuff in Disneyland and Disney World and the Star Wars hotel, Tokyo Disney with my brother) but Disney has lost a lot of the magic for me. There's a whole big world out there to discover.

Since 2005 we have averaged once per year, For example we missed going in 2013, but went twice in 2012. In 2019 we will probably not go to Disney World as DD wants to go to Disneyland as her high school graduation present.

I live local, so I go at least once a week or so.... But... it is smart to run the college tuition through your rewards card. I paid for my annual pass for 4 years that way

I'm also local so we pop over for a day every week or so. Before that, we probably visited a couple of times per year.

We used to go once or twice a year. I think about 2010 we stopped. Disney got too steeped in IT. And when it failed, it failed huge...and still does. That year, we paid for a "big vaycay," in advance. Totally went all out. They did a "computer upgrade" that night. All reservations and all payments associated with them disappeared.

Their solution? Pay OOP untiltge system comes back up and then they would credit our account. Unbelievable. Luckily for us, I was at a point in my life that I could do that.

I was turned off at that point-blank then they came out with FP+. I was certain I wanted no part of that. We only returned in 2017 because we moved to Tampa. I hate EVERYTHING about FP+. I only go now to appease my wife.

We do AP every other year (coordinating our DVC borrow/bank of points). Last AP “season” we were feet-in-Disney every month, but that was unusual. Normally, it’s every other month.

We started out going about once every other year once we had kids. That quickly turned to once a year, and for a while it seemed we were going about once every 7-9 months. Then we took a year or two off and have gone back down to an every other year pattern. Seems we space our trips out a little farther each time. Too many other places to see and not loving all of the changes over the past few years.

When we lived in Florida we would go every month or so, even if it was just a day trip. Even after we moved to Texas, I went with either my son or friends at least once or twice a year to either WDW or Disneyland. Now my son is all grown up with a life of his own and with all the changes in the whole Disney process, I don't think I've been to either park in almost three years. Did hit Disneyland Paris a couple of years ago for the second time. I love my memories of the Disney trips, but I have to agree with Cinderelly--it's lost it's magic a bit for me.

We took our son for his 3rd and 4th birthdays and found those visits to be closer together for our family's preference. We waited about 3 years before our next trip and found that was enough time for everything to feel "fresh" for us. We're now trying to decide if we want to go back next year (hoping to have a promotion for one of us to celebrate) or wait until 2020.

We used to go 2 or 3 times a year. One trip over a week long in the summer and then a couple of shorter 4 or 5 day trips at various times during the year to see and do the different festivities. Disney started making all of the changes focusing on profit rather than guest satisfaction. They brought in all of the technology with the app and MDE that was a disaster to deal with and always crashing and going down resulting in my plans and reservations being all messed up. Then they brought along FP+ and all of the preplanning. We started going less and less as these changes were implemented and got down to once a year. Then we skipped a year here and there. Now I am to the point I hate to even try to plan a trip. The only reason we have been the last two years is because of special events our daughter was in and she has one in a couple of months we have to go to. After that, I do not have any plans in the near future to go again. We may not go again for a few years and at that point if I start trying to plan a trip and it turns into a job, I will stop and plan a different vacation.

Don't get me wrong, we love the rides and attractions. It is FP+, the aggravating app and MDE and all of the preplanning that keeps us away. If they would have times where FP+ were not available for a week and you could just show up and do your thing, I would probably be there.

I'm local and go every few days. My daughter is working at Disney Springs (Ever After), instead of going home I go to a park and meet up after her shift. Prior to moving to Florida it would be a year or more between visits, but we lived local to Disneyland and got our fix that way.

I should say that I have never had a problem with the app or FP+. I mean, I don't like FP+...prefer the old way because it allowed you to be spontaneous, but I have never had any technical glitches with them. They are not why we're not going back anytime soon.

I love the Mexico Pavilion and the silly Three Caballeros ride. But one time we were on it, and we got to the scene where Donald is scuba diving, and the video in the background was of some palm trees on the coast with the sun setting, and I remember thinking, "I wish I were there instead of this place." Ever since then I've been trying to get my wife to go see other places. I managed to get her to go to Hawai'i. Yes, it was a struggle...she hates to fly. And from the east coast, that's a LONG flight. We now have a trip planned to the US Virgin Islands in April.

We average going every other year. There were two years when we went back to back, and this last time we hadn't been for three years. But, on the whole, every other year, with different trips in between seems to do the trick for us. We love our Disney trips, but we love our other trips, like out to National Parks too!
