I have to think there will still be fireworks in the replacement show at EPCOT, and for us - the lack of fireworks is the biggest difference at Rivers Of Light.
You are probably right about the fireworks. I just couldn't figure out the story line at RoL, and I didn't like the music. I don't have those two problems at Illuminations.
I'll meet you at the Rainbow Bridge.

As much as I love Illuminations, it could really use a refresh with some new tech.
Hopefully they don't get too crazy with projection tech, as I could picture them trying to do projections on the countries which might not work too well from a visibility standpoint.
Having been to DL over the last few months, the height challenged castle is not very projection friendly and the projections on main street were OK, but took focus away from the fireworks in the castle area.

While the current Illuminations show has been running for a long time, it is the only nighttime show that I even wanted to see over and over. I could end each day (literally) with that and be happy. The rest are once every five years or so and that might be too often.

We always enjoy this show. Watched it again on this last trip. Kinda sad to hear it's changing, but also excited to see what replaces it. We had a pretty cool experience as we were leaving the park that night. We got stopped at the bridge because they had to lift it to let the floats through. That was a first for us!
