    Default adjoining rooms

    I could use your help,
Don't know what to do we normally stay at deluxe but taking 7 this time so is it better to get two rooms at port Orleans riverside or a 2 bedroom at a villa? Don't plan on cooking, we will do breakfast in room cereal, bagels that sort of thing. 5 boys range from 12 to 3 we will go to pool every afternoon to swim. How good are they at giving adjoining rooms?
    Thank you!!

Most of the time when we have requested adjoining rooms we got them. Disney will try to accommodate you but its not guaranteed.

    Hope this helps..

Also, if you want rooms that are adjoining with a door between them, you will want to specify connecting rooms. No guarantee there, but it helps to be specific.

They have told me the "no guarantee" on connecting rooms in the past too but I told them that "I can guarantee" that I will not accept the rooms if they do not connect. If I can make fastpass reservations 60 days out, dining reservations 6 months out and I make the room reservation almost a year out, they can make sure they give me connecting rooms as requested is the way I look at it. We have gotten them without problem the few times we requested them but it ticks me off that they tell me they can't guarantee them.

Anyway, I imagine there will be a big price difference between two rooms at Port Orleans vs. a two bedroom villa at a deluxe resort. Cost may not be the determining factor but thought I would mention that. Personally, I would price them both and then weigh the cost difference to see if it is really worth it because Port Orleans resort is pretty nice and enjoyable other than it is huge and you can get lost trying to walk around the place depending on your room location.

We've always gotten connecting rooms, but I'm sure there are horror stories for others where it didn't happen. Someone once told me that even though you won't get a verbal guarantee, if there are more children than adults, you're good to go. Perhaps that's why it always worked for us as a family of 6 with 4 children.

We're the family that has NEVER gotten connecting rooms, but most of the time had received adjoining rooms ... not sure what we've done wrong, but it can and does happen.

That being said, if you're not going to cook, the villas are expensive! Two rooms will be less $$, and POR is a lovely resort, with a good main pool, and a number of quiet pools that often feel like private pools with only a family or two in them at a time.

If I understand correctly, you'll have 2 adults and 5 boys? That may be a case where I would go for the villa, to have everyone in the same space, with no risk of not getting connecting rooms, since it would likely be a challenge to be in rooms too far apart.

I second this! The one time we asked for connecting rooms we DID get them, but I think if I went to check in and they said they couldn't do it for me, I'd whip out my phone and start calling other hotels. Bet they'd find one in a hurry. For SURE if they expect us to plan our rides and meals half a year in advance there is NO reason why they should not be able to give us the rooms we need.

Have you considered a Fort Wilderness Cabin? It may be less expensive than a 2 bedroom villa if money is a consideration. There is a pull out bed in the living room of the cabin. The bedroom has bunk beds and a regular bed. You could toss the boys in the bedroom and stay in the living room with the 3 year old in a pak and play. There is plenty of room around the cabin for energetic boys to play. One drawback is that you only get one bathroom.

I love Port Orleans, and we have always received connecting rooms when we requested it. You will get two bathrooms. They say the connecting rooms aren't a guarantee though.

A two bedroom villa gives you lots of room and more privacy. It has a heftier price tag though.
I'll meet you at the Rainbow Bridge.

I love your zest there but if you did that Disney would still have your money. Don't they have a cancellation policy / refund amount. The day of check in and you decide to go elsewhere, they'd just give you the look .... and keep your money. I have been very fortunate and have had nearly all requests honored, if not the day of check in, later in the day .... but .... a bad day at Disney, far and above, beats a good day at work !!
