New Details Announced for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: Updated 1/12/18
1/12/2018
Disney Parks & Resorts have announced several more details for the forthcoming Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge including a hint that MagicBands may be used to extend the story of your ride experience into interactions in the land itself:
... One of the land’s two signature attractions will put you in the cockpit of the Millenium Falcon, piloting the ship, shooting blasters or preparing for hyperspace – all while completing a critical mission.
But how you perform on the mission holds even bigger stakes: perform with skill and you may earn extra galactic credits, while bringing the ship back banged up could put you on the list of a bounty hunter. End up on Harkos’s list and you may face a problem if you show up at the local cantina.
... Only one
{food & beverage} item has been announced for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge so far and that’s the blue milk Luke Skywalker made famous in “Star Wars IV: A New Hope.”
... Guests will also encounter many familiar faces inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, including BB-8, Chewbacca, members of the First Order and – among many others – Rex, the troublesome pilot you may remember from the previous version of a certain Disney attraction who takes on a new role in this land as the DJ at the cantina.

As part of the Star Wars: Galactic Nights hard-ticket event at Disney's Hollywood Studios, a panel presentation on the new land revealed a few more details and concept art for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge:
- The experience inside the Millennium Falcon is being created with a close attention to detail and a large portion of the the attraction will be traversing through the ship itself as Guests will "climb through that hatch, walk through her hallways, sit inside the cockpit". This picture inside one of the interior hallways was shown:
- A full-size fleet of X-Wing ships has been built as part of an unspecified experience:
- More examples of the themed, immersive retail experiences were detailed. The proprietary of one stall in the Batuu market place will be a Toydarian (the winged, minor antagonist from Episode I) with toys "straight out of the Star Wars galaxy". It was also noted that merchandise in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge will not be available in other areas of the park or elsewhere around Walt Disney World.
