Default Disneyland April 2018 - Best place to stay off site???

Hoping someone can give recommendations on the best place to stay off-site. Would prefer to be as close as possible. We usually stay at Port Orleans Riverside when at Disneyworld so looking at something comparable to that for our Disneyland trip next year.

I haven't stayed there myself but the Candy Cane Inn gets really good reviews. The Howard Johnson is close and also is quite nice. For the CLOSEST place The Tropicana, Best Western Park Place Inn, Park View Inn and the Desert Inn and Suites are going to be super close. Of those I've stayed at the Tropicana. It was fine. Nothing fancy but a place to sleep. Their breakfast was not good, though, so don't count on it if you want something that will keep you going for a while. What I tend to do is find a hotel close to the Toy Store parking lot, then walk over there and take the bus to the parks.

Thanks! We have stayed at the Candy Cane Inn before and loved it but even though it's pretty close we were looking for something maybe a bit closer now that we are a little older. Breakfast is important to us as we are retired and on a budget now. Thanks so much for the info!

Don't forget, if you liked the Candy Cane Inn but think it's a bit of a walk, they have their own shuttle. Of the other places mentioned I have a few opinions. I stayed at the Tropicana once, thought it was okay, so I tried it again and hated it. Dirty, run down, poor service. Desert Inn I've stayed at several times when I've gone with a large group as they have suites that hold large parties. Nothing fancy and an indoor pool, which I find strange for southern California, the worst feature in my opinion is the terrible parking situation. We have stayed at Park Place Inn and suites many times. Definitely could use an interior refurbishment, but super close, comfortable, clean, and includes breakfast.

We stayed at the Best Western Park Place Inn in April 2017 and it was the perfect location. Literally right across the street (granted it was a 4 lane street, but still). The cross walk is right in front of the hotel and within minutes we were at security. They do have a continental breakfast included, however we did not try it.
