Question Magic Bands, Checking In & Heading to the Parks

We fly down on April 28th - staying off site that night. We check in at the BWV on the 29th and plan on being at the rope drop at EPCOT. Our MB's are linked and MDE says we are all checked in and a text will be sent when our room is available.

Do we still check in at the front desk to activate our MBs?

Can you leave your luggage with front desk and have it sent to your room?

    Thanks!!

Your magic bands should be active when you arrive and you should not need to stop at the desk. Yes, you can leave your luggage with bell services and call for it to be brought to you when you get access to your room.

    Enjoy your trip!!

We did online check in back in November but never received a text message with our room number. We had to go to the desk and check in when we arrived.

Sometimes this system works well; sometimes not. The last couple of times we've used Magical Express, we've received a text before we even left the airport saying our room was not ready yet. On our last trip, we did need to go to the desk to inquire about our room assignment as we did not receive the room number text. On other trips, we have gotten the text with our room number not long after we've arrived at the resort.

They're now putting your room number (after the room is ready) into your MDE Resort section. So if you don't get a text and it's after 4pm, open your MDE app and check in the resort details section and the room number might be there. Apparently many people don't get the texts and this is the solution Disney has found.
