My son and I are traveling to Orlando to watch our daughter play in a college softball tournament. We have one free day and we are trying to decide if we should just visit MK, or try and hop to EPCOT. Thoughts??

Many trips prior as a child!
You don't mention when you would be going, but based on Value season, it is $107 for single-day MK ticket, but $162 for a one-day hopper...per person at Adult rate.
I would think that the one-day MK ticket would serve you better for the price. There is so much to do at MK that losing time to go between parks for one day doesn't seem to be a great value.

MK... Epcot just isn't worth the cost for just one day... Have fun in MK...
Son of Jor-El.. Kneel before Zod...
TRICIA JONES: I heard that you were going to propose to Brandi Svenning at some theme park. When are men going to learn that women want ROMANCE, not Mr. Toad's Wild Ride...
BRODIE: Hey, now, be fair. EVERYONE wants Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.
MK for sure. Plenty to do there to fill up the day.

I would stick with just MK unless there's something special that draws you to Epcot like a special meal your family always does together or you always watch Illuminations together. There's so much to do in each of the parks, you would only be scratching the surface with a half day there.
