What You’ll Need

Batch of sugar cookie dough (homemade or store-bought) *
Red food coloring
Disposable food preparation gloves (for kneading food coloring into the dough)
Plastic wrap
Rolling pin
Flour
Wax paper
Heart cookie cutter (about 2.5 inches wide)
Baking sheets
Cooling rack
Dark cocoa candy melts
Small microwavable mixing bowl
White licorice candies – two for each cookie
Toothpick
Helpful Tip

* If the store-bought brand of dough you use is too soft to hold the cookie shapes while baking, you can knead in a little extra flour to stiffen it before rolling it out.

How To Make It

Knead red food coloring into the cookie dough. Then flatten the dough into a disk and wrap it tightly in plastic. Chill the dough until firm.
Heat the oven. Working on a flour-dusted sheet of wax paper, roll out the chilled dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut heart shapes from the dough. Bake the cookies according to the recipe directions and then let them cool completely.
Melt a cup or so of the candy melts in the microwave according to the package directions.
Dip the top of each heart in the melted chocolate (if needed, gently scrape the back of the cookie against the rim of the bowl to remove any excess coating). Place the dipped cookies on a wax paper-lined tray.
For the finishing touch, use dabs of the leftover melted candy (applied with the tip of a toothpick) to attach a pair of white licorice candy “buttons” to the lower portion of each heart.

What You’ll Need

Batch of sugar cookie dough (homemade or store-bought)
Green food coloring
Disposable food preparation gloves (for kneading food coloring into the dough)
Plastic wrap
Rolling pin
Flour
Wax paper
Small heart cookie or fondant cutter (about 1.5 inches wide)
Baking sheets
Cooling rack
2/3 cup sifted confectioner’s sugar
1 to 2 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon corn syrup
Small mixing bowl and spoon
Pastry brush
Edible gold luster dust (such as Pearl Dust) and a small dry pastry brush for applying it (optional)
Small white decorating candies, such as sugar pearls and mini flowers (found in the baking aisle of the grocery or craft store)
Toothpick
How To Make It

Knead green food coloring into the cookie dough.
Meanwhile, make a batch of cookie glaze by stirring together the confectioner’s sugar, milk, and corn syrup in a small mixing bowl. If it’s not fluid enough to spread with a pastry brush, stir in a little more milk.
Working with one cookie at a time, brush the top with glaze. Then, if you want to add a shimmery effect, dip the tip of a small dry paintbrush in gold luster dust, hold it over the cookie, and tap the paintbrush handle to dust the glaze before it sets up.
Now use the white decorating candies to adorn the glazed tops with mini flowers and other designs. If the glaze hardens before you finish, use the tip of a toothpick to apply more in the spots you’d like to stick the candies.

He may be timid by nature, but this squeaky-voiced little pig tries his hardest to be brave hearted. Here’s a sweet treat that proves Piglet has pluck — particularly when it comes to professing affection on Valentine’s Day.

What You’ll Need

Batch of baked cupcakes
Pink frosting
Small candy hearts
Black decorator’s gel
Small bowl
Toothpick
Swedish Fish® candies
How To Make It

To shape the cupcakes like Piglet’s face, use a knife to trim halfway around each cupcake top close to the baking paper (this tapered portion will be the top of the head and the wider untrimmed half will be the jowls). Frost the cupcakes.
For each Piglet, gently press a candy heart into the frosting in the center of the cupcake.
Squirt a little bit of black decorator’s gel into a bowl. Use the tip of a toothpick to add drops of gel for eyes and eyebrows (remember to keep them small like Piglet’s). Then dip the toothpick into the gel and draw on a short grin.
For each ear, gently press the ends of two Swedish Fish® candies into the frosting at the top of the head.
