You must cancel at least 24 hours in advance unless otherwise stated in reservation agreement

I have on several occasions not canceled "within 24 hours" and I have not been charged anything. I have canceled "sometime the day before" and been fine. I don't know if I was lucky or if the system is set up to charge only for "same day" cancellations, but when I cancelled an 8am reservation at 3pm the day before I was not charged, and that similar circumstance has repeated itself 3 or 4 times with me in 2016.

A CM on the phone told me that if you cancel by 10 PM the night before the ADR she has never seen anyone charged.

I have cancelled with less than 24 hours to go and not been charged. I have called to switch times (keeping the same restaurant) on the same day and not been charged. I've never cancelled anything on the same day, so I don't know if that incurs a charge or not. I wouldn't try it.

I had to cancel just a few hours before the reissue due to illness and they did not charge us anything. I'm sure if people abused their kindness, that might change.

We had to call the morning of to cancel a reservation due to a delayed flight. The CM was very understanding and we weren't charged.

Be careful, if your ressie is tied to a ticket like for Candelight or the Flower Power concerts at Epcot they want 48 hours notice. I learned that the hard way last weekend. Finally with some begging I was able to get it resolved. They wanted to charge me the full amount cancelling a full day ahead.

We were just there last week, and we did cancel a reservation. They told us that it had to be done by 11pm the day before.

Depends what you are canceling. Safest bet is 48 hours in advance
