Default Fantasmic loses to the dark side

I was extremely disappointed last week as Fantasmic was scheduled for 8:30 and the Star Wars fireworks at 845
    (1) We wanted to see both but could not because they overlapped
    (2) We chose Fantasmic (as it had always been my favorite night show) only to have Star Wars fireworks begin going off in the middle of Fantasmic which TOTALLY ruined our Fantasmic show.
    (3) There can be only one reason that I can think of to overlap both shows and that is, "we must close the park at 9 so let's do both shows in parallel as early in the evening as possible."

What does Disney get in the end...money wasted and customer dissatisfaction.

Disappointed for my kids, I can't help but feel Walt's vision of fun for both kids and adults is dead as kids get a disappointing experience and adults get a disappointing cost/benefit ratio.

For the first time, I'm feeling sad, disappointed and bitter at Corporate Disney World.

PS This was one of many disappointments.

It does seem strange that both would be timed to occur in that way. Sorry to hear you came away disappointed.

When there is only one showing of Fantasmic, it tends to fill to capacity, this may be a way to coordinate overflow and at least ensure guests have a choice. The fireworks were, I"m sure, a distraction. Definitely would be bummed any time you invest that much and come away dissatisfied more than once in what is suppose to be an enjoyable vacation. It's unfortunate that these things happen wherever one choose to spend their what tends to be shrinking leisure dollar.

From Disney's perspective, They must think this is beneficial to guests, whether right or wrong, because the price tag putting on Fantasmic is very high.

Wow! I'm surprised that they overlap these. I can only imagine how distracting this would have been.

Wow - I hope they correct that situation. That would be very distracting. They almost always time things out better than that.

I'm surprised to hear that ... with them both going on it would be very annoying. It is also a bit "un-Disney", they usually have the timing for these things down pat.

My sentiments exactly, my family was also there last week and we were also very upset how the Star Wars firework disrupted our Fantasmic experience. Don't understand why they push the firework back a least 15 minutes.

I was reviewing schedules before our trip there next weekend. We typically go in Sept or Oct. I too was a little confounded when I saw that there was only one showing of Fantasmic at 9:00 and the fireworks at 8:15. I think this is an issue where we as Disney parks lovers just need to let them hear our voices and see if they can come up with a much better plan.

Yeah, that was the reason for the utilidors.. Not to ruin the magic.. Too bad they don't care about that now.

That is a tough decision though.

That would be distracting. It seems Disney is cutting costs by cutting some of the things that make them special. I am still upset about the nighttime parade at MK ending, that is one of the things I was looking forward to this trip because we are taking someone who's never seen it. I am hoping the at least come up with a replacement before our January trip, but it isn't looking that way.

I am sorry you were disappointed. It was the same for me on my last trip. I frequently remember the things I loved about our past trips and get the urge to return. Then I remember my last trip to Disney World and and Disneyland and the urge quickly disappears.
I'll meet you at the Rainbow Bridge.

@MattHolst well that makes sense. we just returned and Fantasmic was at 8:30, fireworks were at 8:45, and park closed at 9. so definite overlap
