So it looks like Captain Jack may finally make his appointment with the gallows.

I wonder how many executives at Disney are on suicide watch right now?

If even half of what has been reported in the media is true about Johnny Depp, then it will cast a heavy shadow over so many experiences at Disney Parks.

I'm not sure of the effect of the media attention on Depp right now. It looks bad, yes. But a number of fans are standing by him and refuse to believe. Further, the character of Jack Sparrow remains untouched for now, too, still beloved among fans and can probably stay that way if people can keep the actor and the character separate in their minds. Considering the nature of the character, I think it's possible, at least as far as park representation. Might not bode as well in any new movies.

And again, a number of actors and celebrities who have worked with Disney have far from ideal representations in their personal lives but still remain respected for their work. It remains to be seen if this is a major strike against Depp or just a passing scandal.

As damning as things may seem, nobody has been found guilty of anything at this point. There is a process and it should be allowed to play out.

Depp's troubles didn't make them hesitate on the release of "Through the Looking Glass", although the film seems to be a dud for other reasons.
