Exclamation New Details Announced for Frozen Ever After and Royal Sommerhus Opening at Epcot

The Walt Disney World resort has announced additional details for the new Frozen themed ride and Meet & Greet nearing completion in Epcot:

The New Norway Epcot Attraction Celebrates a Summer Snow Day

    Walt Disney World Press Release
    April 19, 2016

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – For the first time in forever, guests can explore the kingdom of Arendelle when “Frozen Ever After” opens in the Norway Pavilion in summer 2016. This family-friendly adventure picks up after the events in the blockbuster hit “Frozen” and celebrates a “Summer Snow Day.”

A stone archway entrance greets guests to the kingdom of Arendelle. Queen Elsa, Princess Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, trolls and Marshmallow join them on their boat journey through the frozen willow forest, past Troll Valley and up to the North Mountain to Elsa’s ice palace.

After disembarking, guests can meet the regal sisters in the cozy Royal Sommerhus. Inspired by a cabin in the countryside of Norway, the sisters have opened their summer home for visitors.

    Fun Facts:

Frozen Ever After is the first Frozen-themed attraction and the Royal Sommerhus is Elsa’s and Anna’s permanent meet and greet at Disney Parks.

Guests will witness Elsa’s ice magic on Frozen Ever After.

Composers Bobby Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez created new lyrics to the cherished Frozen film songs.

All of the original voice talent from the film returned and recorded dialogue and songs for the attraction

WDI traveled to Norway to research architecture, décor and artifacts; guests will find their inspiration in the Royal Sommerhus.

The design of Royal Sommerhus and the surrounding area is modeled after a traditional Norwegian cabin in Trondheim.

So...there's now no REAL connection to Norway. Just a vague reference to the region and lifestyle. Just movie hype and marketing. So sad...

Another straw in the camel's back for me. I'm almost done with Disney.

Walt Disney was a story teller, and I am glad that the ride will be more of a story (and a popular story at that). This should be great for drawing some folks away from Soarin and Test Track. I think EPCOT needs more fun stuff for the kids and this helps.

I will miss the Maelstrom troll & hearing "welcome back, brave Viking!", but the bit on Norway oil wells was a tired bit.

I might be drinking the kool-aid, but I ALWAYS loved kool-aid ... so why not.

I'm struggling to get the angst over this attraction. Epcot DESPERATELY needs something new to draw guests away from Soarin' and Test Track and this should do the trick very nicely.

I mean I get people are upset about "more characters in Epcot" but I mean they crossed that line already with Donald and the Three Cabs in Mexico and Nemo in the Seas so this is just more of the same. Plus Frozen is BY FAR the most successful animated feature film of all time so I give them kudos for actually not sitting on their hands for ten years like they have for some other properties (*cough* Avatar!! *cough*) and actually putting something in while the film is still relevant.

Our family is excited to check it out!

They made a mistake with Little Mermaid by not jumping on that train when it was in its infancy. Look how long it took to get her attraction up and running. Too late, that party is over. I'm pretty sure they learned from that mistake and are going to use their most popular characters to entertain their guest and get them into their parks. Most vacationers have no idea what Epcot started as, nor do they care. They are looking for more Disney. Remember that Double Decker Character bus? It was implemented after many guests were asking where the characters were. My own kids chased that bus down! The park can't stay the same or it would get pretty boring, even Walt encouraged change when it was needed. He had no problem scrapping attractions in Disneyland to build something new. Sadly, Epcot never realized its original dream in the first place and without Walt's vision it kind of went off the rails. In the last couple of decades, Epcot has either been neglected (looking tired) or had things removed to the point of embarrassment (empty buildings, empty shops, Lights of Winter, etc) I welcome anything they change, add or update at this point.

I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way.

I can attest to that. As a 90's kid and huge Ariel fan, all I could get was her grotto and show at HS. It was very upsetting to 5 year old me I agree, it is time for change. I liked Maelstrom, but Disney needed to do something about the demand for Frozen. Bravo!
