    Question BWI or AKL

I have AKL (pool view) booked for a week in May for our 30th anniversary. However, for $180 more we could move over to the BWI. Pros/Cons for BWI? I've been to AKL plenty of times (DH's fav resort). We stayed at YC in December and DH's biggest complaint was the walk to get coffee at BC. Thanks.

If you really like Animal Kingdom Lodge, why move??

On the other hand, if you plan to spend a lot of time at Epcot, Board Walk is an ideal location.

Thanks Linda. We are going for the Flower/Garden show before our AP's expire. Ideally, I would rather stay on the monorail; but the prices are outrageous. We usually spend most of our time at Epcot/MK. I don't know anything about BWI so hoping someone will come along with info.

Never stayed at the Inn but have stayed in the villas. If your DH complained about the coffee walk at YC he probably won't like BWI any better. The refill station in the morning is at the Boardwalk bakery, there is no QS at BWI itself.

Agreed. The refill stations are a pretty hefty trek for Boardwalk. Although, we usually have our rhythm down as to who gets the refills while the others get ready.

However, we enjoyed the pool much more at BW then at AKL due to the slide. But there are a lot of obvious pool hoppers at BW I noticed. Also, I loved staying at the Boardwalk as, like YC, you can walk to both HS and EP at your leisure.

Where is the Belle Vue Lounge located? I read you can get coffee and breakfast there.

You're right, they do serve continental breakfast items in the morning and coffee, I forgot about that. The lounge is located off the lobby.

Thanks for all the info. Standard view is of the gardens, leisure pool or parking lot. Any one have any idea of how likely you are to get a view that is not the parking lot? I will request a king bed. Sorry for all the questions; but I've never stayed there and don't want to regret the move if I chose to do so.

Personally, we would not give up a stay at AKL to stay at BW, but that's just our choice. If the location of BW makes more sense for your trip, then you should look into it. But we think AKL is a much nicer resort all around than BW.

We actually just returned last night from six nights at BW. It is my absolute favorite.....but.....the standard studios (For dvc) were VERY far from the elevator! That being said...I would go again in a heartbeat! We are trying every morning at 8:00 AM to book BW for Food and Wine in October with no luck! We can get a savannah view at Kidani, but everyone says AK is so far away from everything....your thoughts?

AKL in my opinion is not all that far from everything. It's a really nice resort and DH's favorite. Busses pick you up at Kidani before heading to Jambo House. However, if you're going in Oct for the F&W festival; I would be stay at the BW/BC/YC for convenience. This is why we switched over to BWI -- for the Flower/Garden Show.

I think it comes down to location. If you want to be in the thick of things, you can't beat the Epcot resort corridor. Walk or boat to Epcot or Studios, tons of dining options at all those hotels and the two parks all right there together. I was just at AKL Kidani for a week and I absolutely noticed the length of those bus rides. AKL is a good distance from Epcot and MK; if you're spending the bulk of your time at those two parks, you will notice how much time you spend in transit -- especially if it's the end of a day and you're standing up on that bus!!!

That said, you can't beat AKL for ambience. Protip -- Kidani's pool is actually more fun for the kiddos, with a splash park area and a better slide (according to my god-daughter and her sisters).
