Default Thrifty or Dollar Rental companies

Has anyone ever used either Thrifty or Dollar Car Rental? It seems to be the cheapest! Any experience with either company?

Personally, neither of these are on my short list. They're OK, but in my experience, they both tend to be very pushy about trying to upsell and make you fell like a criminal if you don't want the insurance. And I feel that way even though my son in law works for Thrifty. I tend to go with Alamo whenever possible, based on decent pricing and good service over many years. But your mileage may vary.

We also tend to use Alamo more, but if the deal is good, I wouldn't hesitate to use Thrifty or Dollar. They are all on-site at Orlando Airport, which is a must for us for pickup and dropoff. Our experiences with all 3 have been mostly positive, but all have had small issues here and there!

When I think back over our trips from the last several years, we have consistently used either Dollar or Thrifty (with Thrifty being our most used rental company). We have rented in Hawaii, California, Florida and South Carolina over the last several years and have not had any difficulty with the company or the cars. At times, the car we've rented has been the least expensive just to move us from point a to point b. In Hawaii, we opted to rent convertibles. I would not hesitate to use either company again and, in fact, have a current reservation with Thrifty for an upcoming trip.

I got my cheapest rate for July at Alamo...add in the ability to bypass the counter and go straight to the car....bonus!! No dealing with pushy salespeople!
