Default Has anyone used the DAS for a child with ADHD?

My child was diagnosed with ADHD. I am not sure if I should use the DAS or not. Has anyone used it for this?

How do your child's symptoms manifest or worsen when he/she has to wait in lines for a long period of time? This is what you will be asked by the CM at Guest Relations when you inquire about getting a DAS. You will need specific examples. I have two children with autism, one of them also has ADHD. We have a DAS for the child without ADHD. Our other son has no issues waiting in lines. The younger one has personal space issues and sensory issues that become aggravated in closed in spaces surrounded by lots of people. The DAS allows us to wait our turn outside of the normal line and come back after that time has elapsed. The DAS will not give you immediate access. You will simply get to wait "virtually."

We typically only use the DAS for waits in excess of 45 minutes or for certain queues that cause distress due to loud noise or darkness.

Thank you. That was a very helpful reply. She doesn't have a REALLY hard time waiting in line. She just gets frustrated and won't ride a ride if the line is too long. We usually have a great plan and use FP's so we don't have to wait very long. I don't know if her dislike of waiting in long lines is different than other kids who don't have ADHD. She has no issues with being in a crowded area. It sounds like we will not need the DAS.

From what you said, especially to Natalie's reply it doesn't sound like the DAS would be for you. Most kids don't like waiting in line. Fortunately, the majority of Disney's queue's are now interactive at least to some degree so if you find yourself getting into a longer line jump into the one that will have things for her to do while you wait. Playing "i-spy" games, or "Disney crowd bingo" can also help quickly pass the time.

We use games on our phones to help give the kids something to do if they get antsy.

NO ONE likes waiting in line! LOL! But our kids can handle moderate waits when they really really want to do an attraction as long as the queue is open air and not too claustrophobic.
