Default Best week in October 2014

If possible, I usually try to avoid Marathon weekends, school breaks, big conventions, etc. Can someone please highlight what events are going on during the month of October (or even late September) and maybe make a suggestion as to what week might be the best during that time frame? Thanks!

Not sure about the best week to go... but I do know that the Tower of Terror 10-miler is the first Saturday in October; and Columbus Day is the 13th.

I don't know if 2014 will be the same, but in 2013 the first two weeks of October were jam packed, very surprisingly so. Not sure if it got any better towards the end of the month.

We went last October during Columbus Day week and the crowds were unbelievable. Maybe a combination of F&W Festival and Columbus Day. I was shocked at how crowded it was as we usually go in September. This year we're going in September!

Overall October has gotten much busier than it used to be. The combination of Food & Wine plus the Halloween party have really driven up attendance in October.

If you have a choice the end of Sept should be lighter. Of course they are starting F&W earlier this year so that could start to impact attendance too.

Last year we went Mid Sept and it was wonderful. We also went mid October and I would classify it as very busy.

There don't appear to be slow times of the year any more so it's really hard to select a week where the crowds might be most manageable. The Food & Wine Festival draws a lot of folks.

Ouch. Our youngest has a college fall break in early October so the 6 of us will be running Tower of Terror 10 Miler.

DW and I usually go to WDW the last week of October and can say that over the last several years we have noticed an uptick in attendance.

The huge Gartner Symposium which fills several resorts is Oct 5-9. It mainly affects dining and toon availability and things can get busy in the evening.

We were in Disney the third week of October last year. We had never seen it that busy! We arrived the first day of a free dining offer, which also affects attendance.

I had never seen the food and wine festival so busy either.

We hadn't been to Disney since mid October 2005, and there was a significant difference on crowd level.

I think it will still be pretty busy during this period of time. In addition to Halloween and the Halloween parties in the Magic Kingdom, the Epcot Food and Wine Festival will be ongoing.
