Nope. As a family of five, for years that was our "go-to" resort. We would count on free dining, and be able to sleep five in one room. Saved us thousands. This is the first time I've seen POR excluded from the deal. I wonder why.

We already have free dining from bounceback offer Aug 23 - 30th, so I'm hoping this means lower crowds for us. I was nervous they were going to offer it the week we are going!!!!

This is the first time my entire fall break wasn't in the FD discount. Oct 24th is the first day and the discount doesn't kick in until the 26th. We are going down using a bounceback but I had a friend wanting to go for the first time and we need to cut every penny we can..any thoughts on whether a room discount will pick up any more dates in Oct. Almost all of Oct is excluded on this FD offer.

So....they're looking to specifically target families of five? But everyone else gets free dining? No, I don't think that's it.

I just got the email an hour or so ago. Excited then disappointed, then doubly disappointed.

First, our normal time to go would be the day after Thanksgiving, and in 2010 and 2012 we were able to incorporate the free DDP with our stays at POR, as we are 2 adults and 3 kids.

Second, obviously now is that POR is excluded, which makes absolutely no sense to me. Its like they are intentionally alienating any family with 5 or more. I don't get it.

I didn't expect to see anything regarding free dining until late July or August anyway. My hope and fingers crossed, this is just the first casting of the line into the water to see who bites, and that later they expand on the dates and maybe the resorts as well. If I recall in 2012 and maybe last year as well, there were follow up offers that at least expanded the date ranges of the initial offer.

But solely based on this, it might kill our plans for a fall trip, or possibly drive us off property as our options as a family of 5 are pretty much limited.

This was a general Disney visa offer, has anyone scene or gotten pin codes that cover the same time frame? I may try call Disney reservations on the off-hand chance I have a code that I'm not aware of.

Anyone have a reliable crystal ball

Actually, it's not just POR. It's also French Quarter, All Star Movies, and just the Little Mermaid rooms at AoA. Interesting. Are those just the most popular resorts at the moderate and value levels?

I think POFQ has been excluded for some time, don't know why, but I think on previous offerings that we took advantage of POFQ was never an option. I know on almost every email or pin code or Disney visa offer, some part of AoA is excluded.

The irony is that I started our vacation planning process thinking, maybe this will finally be the year that we do a deluxe, and opt for a room discount over free ddp, if offered. I held onto that idea for quite some time, but the add'l cost of $2000-2500 started weighing a bit heavier. So just the other day I talked myself back into what would be our 3rd stay at POR, with free ddp, if offered.

Now, apparently those in charge at Disney have other plans for us, which may for the first time in many visits might entail off property lodging.

Trying not to get too frustrated early on, as I hope this is just the first offering and adjustments will be made later in the year.

    Default Free Dining

I am happy for those who are able to take advantage of the Free Dining for the dates mentioned.
I, however, am bummed, first time in a long time the dates don't work for us. We typically go to WDW the 3rd week in August. Will be there and gone this time before the Free Dining starts..

I think it has to do with the amount of rooms booked, right?

Those hotels that are "excluded" likely already have a certain percentage of rooms booked and therefore won't be eligible.

Very quickly, other hotels will sell-out of the rooms that are available for this offer as well.

It's not every room in every hotel that is eligible, it's just a certain percentage of each.

Yeah, but they've been running free dining now going on 4 or 5 years continuous, and now, for some reason out of the blue POR is excluded.

I don't know what would be any different this year than the previous years when POR was part of the offering.

    Default Chiming in

Forgot to chime in when this was released but luckily our TA was able to re-book all of our ressies (we are a big group) at the WL with the discount. Saves us about $2000...

    Interesting...Very Interesting...

Disney is steering people to their other resorts to get the promo.

We are just an average Middle Class family. Both of us work. I love a Disney vacation, but can only go when they are offering a good promo.
For my family...a free dining means the difference of going or not going, because when I run the numbers, dining is expensive, on the plan or out of pocket. IT ISN'T CHEAP!!!
But so many different rules.... it's getting crazy! I just looked at my email from Disney Visa, and noticed it says SELECT resorts for the promo.

I read elsewhere that a convention of 30,000+ attendees was coming in the 26th add their families to that number and maby a company has a good chunck of POR reserved.

It's simple for my family of 5. We can do WDW only when a big discount like free DDP is offered. We got the offer in Dec 2012 to stay at POFQ when my 5th was only 1 1/2yo. But now that she's 3, I have only one affordable option. And Disney decided that a WDW trip wasn't happening for me this year when they left Riverside off the list.

Riverside is definitely my least fav of the mods, but it's the only one that could fit us. I can't spend the extra $1400 it would cost for a FW Cabin, and I definitely can't do a deluxe without selling some organs on the black market. Shoot, even with free DDP it was going to be a stretch for us to fly out there. But the decision was taken out of our hands. I suppose a few days in Disneyland will have to hold me over for now.
