    Default Airline Tickets

We are planning a trip for next December 2014, coming in December 18, out the 28th. When do you recommend buying airline tickets? Is it too early, not sure if prices will drop or not?

You are planning to travel during one of the busiest travel seasons of the year. I wouldn't expect any real bargains on airline during that time frame. If you find a reasonable airline rate, I'd suggest grabbing it. If you book with carriers like Southwest and/or Jet Blue, they will offer you refunds (to be used on future travel with various restrictions on use) if the flight price later goes down.

I bought ours for March and it was outrageously high, my daughter found out she is pregnant and to sick to go in march so we changed to june and our airplane tickets went down half. We went through southwest and now we have vouchers for another trip. I started really long before our date in march and they never went down. tuesday is when they come out with so called deals. good luck

I've started tracking Delta ticket prices from MSP to MCO as we are thinking about going right after Thanksgiving. Right now I'm seeing $376 for a RT non-stop ticket price. In 2012 I was seeing the same if not higher pricing about this time of year. I don't recall if its the Kayak website but some websites will have "predictors" giving you sort of a definite buy or wait. I held off and around June prices dropped to as low as $250, which we locked in.

I think right now its still too far out for December pricing to fluctuate much, either way.

We were looking at going for the same time for our trip on the Fantasy. By changing our dates to Dec. 17 through Dec. 27, it knocked $1200 off the price of tickets for four of us. Sure travel from Canada is pretty expensive on most days but to see a $1200 difference just to change our trip by one day is shocking.

Days of travel are also important. The 18th is Thursday and the 28th is Sunday. Travel on the the Wednesday and Saturday might be your better option.

Personally when ever I see a price I am comfortable with I buy.

We just booked our flights for our Christmas Cruise last week. We were able to get two flights using reward miles so we only had to purchase two more flights. We bought flights at this time last year for the same flights in December 2013 and paid about $50 less/pp last year. Guess these prices just keep going up.

I would keep checking and when you see the flight that has the times you want in your budgeted amount - nab it.

The best days to buy your tickets online are on a Tuesday or weds, first check the individual airline site then hit Expedia, Priceline, kayak, etc..
To compare fares, between the carriers. Another great trick/tool is use co-terminals...LGA/JFK or MDW/ORD, just yesterday checking the difference between Daytona and Orlando for a quick trip for something unrelated to WDW was 250 less....
So by driving 40 minutes it saved 750 for a party of 3!

    Good luck!
