......it doesn't "drop" the whole way ....it's more of an intermediate height drop ...that varies a few times through the course of the ride duration.

....and "drop" isn't really the appropriate word ...which would denote a completely "free-fall" experience that's based only on gravity. The ride is actually propelled downward to achieve the almost "weightlessness" sensation (ie: your posterior leaving the seat)

.....and it's of course propelled upward too ...forcing you back into the seat.

....it's a great ride ...and the queue ....is awesome just getting to the ride ...there's an incredible amount of detail (fyi ...look for "props" from Twilight Zone episodes along the way)

It's a great ride, very intimidating but great. The detail put into it makes it worthwhile, even if you chicken out at the end of the line, before getting on. The drop is as said earlier, it''s random in length and duration. Give it a try, at least to the chicken exit.

Thank you JerseyDad! Don't know why I'm so chicken to try it!!! Probably because I'm not a "youngin" anymore. I think I've scared my kids from trying it. I'll have to bribe them to try it first! I have until August to think about it.

I did it a few years ago with the encouragement from my daughter. I am no young'n either and I don't usually do roller coasters etc. This was intense also but I got through it. It was a rush and I am glad I did it but I don't need to do it again. You should consider it before you get "over the hill".

I can tell you that I HATE those rides that just pick you up and drop you. Scare me to death. But Tower is not like those rides. Yes, there's dropping involved, but it's not a complete 200ft drop. Just small, fun, exciting drops and lifts. Plus the story behind the ride is what makes it my favorite ride (tied with Splash Mt).
My name is Gator. You killed my Sorcerer's Hat. Prepare to die.

The Tower is one of my favorite rides but I love that stomach drop moment you get on TOT and on big drops on roller coasters. My husband hates it and has recently bowed out after years of riding with me so I wouldn't have to ride alone.

Oh and Gator and Jersey Dad are right, the queue and story make it so worth it. I would at least experience that. They will let you change your mind if you want before you get on the elevator.

Let me put it this way... Many years ago, right around the time ToT opened, my family visited WDW... My mother, who doesn't like any kind of thrill ride at all, was talked into going on ToT... Needless to say, she loved it.... Didn't go on it again, once was enough for her... But she loved it nonetheless...

She wouldn't go on Space Mountain though...

TRICIA JONES: I heard that you were going to propose to Brandi Svenning at some theme park. When are men going to learn that women want ROMANCE, not Mr. Toad's Wild Ride...

BRODIE: Hey, now, be fair. EVERYONE wants Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.

There are some incredible special effects, and the theming is awesome as well. The worse part is the anticipation before you fall, rather than the fall itself.

It is a great ride, but very intense! I did it once and I am never, ever doing it again.

The sensation for me was like a great big swing on steroids -- in the dark. Waiting for the first drop was always a nail-biter, but after that (woo hoo), what a great feeling.

IMHO this is one of Disney's best ride concepts.

    Enjoy.....

ToT is one of the best attractions anywhere. It is an example of Disney at its best - wrapping a great ride with great theming, atmosphere, and motivated cast members - to tell a story.

The ride queue has so many details - from the ruined gardens and statues outside, to the lobby and the libraries, even into the boiler room. It looks exactly as I would imagine an old abandoned hotel from that era would look today. Even the details outside - you would be hard pressed to see any other attraction from the queue line which would break the immersion experience.

I got a chance to ride ToT at DCA and was actually a bit sad. DL just doesn't have the same acreage to work with, so the scale of the ride is much smaller. The ride system is different and not nearly as good. There is much less theming around the ride, and really no immersion. AH well, a part of an experience is better than none at all.

Unless you are DEATHLY terrified of falls, dropping, or heights, I hope you will find a way to ride ToT at least once.

I have endured much the same as you from the looks of it....not only all of that I survived a volcanic eruption that destroyed my house, I was 8 miles from the base of it.....if we survived all that, then I am certain the ToT will not do us/you in !!

I've been on it twice, both times because I was with INTERCOT peeps and they "made me" ride.

    I don't like it.

That said, I'm glad I've done it, the special effects are amazing!
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way.

Patricia's story is one of INTERCOT lore

I was in my early 40s before I gained the courage to ride TOT with my DS who was about 10 at the time - and now it is my favorite attraction at Disney World. Especially the best riding in the first row!

I love the ride, but it is pretty scary, after all, that's the whole point: it's not called Tower of TERROR for nothing.

That being said, it won't hurt you; the worst that'll happen might be that you wet yourself!

    Accurate!

I love this ride. I recommend you do it. It's one of the best themed rides at WDW.

I've ridden along side many first-timers. They're all very nervous. Afterwards, they all laugh.
