Magic Bands and table service restaurants

I have a question which I do not think has been asked in regards to using Magic Bands. Our family will be part of the testing October 6-11. How is the magic band used when paying at a table service restaurant? Do they bring a scanner to the table to scan the band or do you take it off your wrist and give it to your server with the bill like when paying with the Key to the World card?

I realize during testing Disney is also giving you a Key to the World card, but that isn't always going to be there. I would rather not use it so that the test results are more accurate.

They bring the scanner to your table. If you're using the DDP, they scan at the beginning of the meal. If OOP, they scan at the end.

Correct you never have to take your band off. (You learn how to place it on your wrist so you don't do the twist to use it) You also have a PIN code you enter so if it's misplaced no one can charge on it.

My wife and I drove up two weeks ago and the bands worked flawlessly. Room access, advance fast pass, park entry, all purchases. It was awesome. Best part, we can re use them for all our trips. They even took it at the Lake Buena Vista golf club for my round of golf.

We used them at the beginning of August and they worked most places.....WCC was the only place they wouldn't scan and the CM had never used the handheld device either.....we had the cards as well, just in case they wouldn't work......they scan you at the table.....everywhere else they worked great !!!

I still don't know how I feel about these magic bands.. makes it seem so impersonal and robotic like. Do you really have to wear them while you're in the park or can you just get them out and show them like a card or something?

They are using the scanners now for all KTTW cards as well (at TS restaurants).

I actually loved it. It was SO fast! No more waiting for the wait staff to take away your card and then come back with it. They give you the bill, then when you are ready to pay, they pull the scanner out of their back pocket and you touch, enter your PIN, and go! It's awesome.

Wow, Natalie, that sounds great. In the past it has always taken a minimum of 15 minutes for the horsing around to get the waitperson back and forth and that's not counting any extra time for them having to take care of anything for another table.

They are actually more personal.....much faster....no digging around for the tickets, then collecting them from the kids at the gate.....if they lose it, just get another....you wouldn't have to wear it if you didn't want to, but then your digging for it when you need it......they're awesome !!
