Default HELP, just booked HILTON ANAHEIM opinions please!!!

I just booked the Hilton Anaheim for our Disneyland trip this Christmas 2013. I'm wondering if anyone has ever stayed here. I have heard that they had a major renovation recently. I'm going with my husband, and 2 kids ( ages 5 and 9 ). this will be our first time to DL. I don't "need" it to be "Disney themed", I just "NEED" it to be CLEAN! I've been to WDW dozens of times but DL is completely foreign to me. Its just NOT in our budget ( flying from NJ ) to stay at a Disney owned Resort. My Travel agent had suggested some others that I may like but this had a great deal, one night was free! The photos look great but we all know that pictures can be deceiving and I believe that HILTON is a good Hotel chain.

Default I have stayed at the Anaheim Hilton

I have stayed at the Anaheim Hilton for D23. It's what you would expect in a Hilton.

The hotel and rooms are very nice. The rooms were clean, modern and quiet.

    There is no Disney theming.

The hotel is attached to the convention center, so it can get pretty busy depending on what is going on.

It is with in walking distance of Disney and several restaurants.

The walk is safe with large side walks and it is well lit a night. Although we did encounter a homeless man near the Disney property.

There are several hotels along the walk that offer time shares. There are barkers on the street out front who will try to lure you in. Just ignore them.

Over all the hotel is great and very convenient for a Disney Land adventure.

The renovations I saw being done were exterior and included the Hilton and surrounding areas. Not sure how or if the rooms themselves were renovated. I stayed there maybe six years ago for a convention. The room I was in was very roomy and comfortable. The hotel as a whole was welcoming and comfortable to spend time in. I would not hesitate to stay there again if the price was right. You could walk or shuttle to the Parks.

Thank you for your feedback. I don't know why I'm having a bad gut feeling. I have read mixed reviews but I trust the opinions of the people on INTERCOT. Its just that we are coming all the way from New Jersey and I don't want to be disappointed. I had considered staying at the Paradise Pier for around a $1,000 more but my husband said that for as little time that we will be spending in the room he would rather use that money for the kids when they want some souvenirs , ice cream, candy etc... to make it a GREAT vacation for them. I DID get a good deal that we are staying one night free. I guess I just don't want my family to be disappointed. We have never stayed at any off property Hotels whenever we went to WDW, so maybe you can see my anxiety over this decision...lol

My sister and I stayed there for one night a couple of years ago. The room was renovated, new carpet, bedding, paint, etc. This is a huge hotel! The rooms were comfy and quiet. They have huge windows to look out. I believe there are rooms that look towards Disneyland, so you may want to ask for that! We had a view of the neighborhood. There is a big pool and a few hot tubs that are really nice! My sister used the gym there (though it costs extra). It was in the basement and that area hadn't been renovated at that time. But the gym was huge and nice. We were happy with our stay. I booked it on a bidding site and got it for $60 for our one night. We walked to the parks by going down Harbor and it was about a 15 minute walk. We walked back to the hotel by cutting through the Grand Californian lobby and down Katella, about 20 minutes. We were happy with our stay. Keep in mind that there is a parking fee that you pay at the garage when you exit if you have a car. But it's a parking structure with ample parking. Have a great trip!
