    Default Laptop backpack carry-on

Quick question concerning backpacks designed to carry a laptop. Can they be used as your carry-on item on Jetblue?

You could use it as your personal item or your carry on depending on the dimensions. We usually stow our backpacks with laptops underneath the seat in front of us so no one comes along and jams something heavy on top.

    From JB:
    Carry-on Requirements
Each customer may bring one bag that fits in the overhead bin plus one personal item (purse, briefcase, laptop, etc.) that fits under the seat in front of you.

Your personal item must not exceed 18"l (45.72 cm) x 15"w (38.1 cm) x 8"h (20.32 cm) in order to fit under the seat in front of you.

To fit in the overhead bin, your item must not exceed:

    for our Airbus A320: 26 inches (66 centimeters) length x 18 inches (45.72 centimeters) width x 12 inches (30.48 centimeters) height
    for our EMBRAER 190: 24 inches (60.96 centimeters) length x 16 inches (40.64 centimeters) width x 10 inches (25.4 centimeters) height

We take the laptop bag as well as a backpack for other misc items for our 5 year old. You will no matter what case the laptop is in take it out of the case in order to get scanned in the xray machines.

    The statement
You will no matter what case the laptop is in take it out of the case in order to get scanned in the xray machines.
is not completely true. There are laptop bags made to fold open in such a way that laptops do not need to be removed from the bag to be scanned. If you have one of these, there cannot be anything other than the laptop in the part of the bag that contains the laptop (no power supplies, mice, cables, etc.).
