Default Art of Animation and Cars...anything cool to see if we are just visiting?

My 2YO son loves cars, and Im wondering if there is anything cool to see at the AoA resort. We are staying at the AKL, but I didn't know if its possible to bus over to AoA and look around...and if there would be anything for him to see related to Cars.

    Thanks!

You can. You would need to take a bus to Downtown Disney or one of the parks and then take a bus to Art of Animation.

YES! Your son can see a LOT of the main characters from Cars at the relevant section of AoA.

We are planning to go over there to visit since we'll have one day on property after our cruise and we won't have park tickets. My 6 y/o is obsessed with Cars, and I know he will love to walk around the Cars area and take pictures with all the cars there. They are full sized so it looks really neat.

Plus, the AoA lobby and gift shop look really cool too. We might end up eating lunch over there. I know my boys will get a kick out of the rainbow lighted check in area and all the art around.

I visited right after opening, and I say DO IT! It's well worth the time and a visit. Lunch is a great idea as well. The food court is unique.

Going2HeavenRU, the bridge from Pop is straight back from the main building. Go out from the rear of the main building, walk past the 60s Hippy Dippy Pool and keep walking straight back, you'll see the bridge.

lawgirl, another tip, take an elevator in the Cars buildings, get off at each floor. Each hallway should have a different mural painted in it relating to the movie.

Yes, they opened it (without prior announcing intentions to do so) on opening weekend of AoA.

We took a trip over, just last week, to see the CARS section. My three youngest boys loved it so much that they begged us to go over later in the week just to see it again and play on the playground in the Nemo section. They keep talking about how we have to stay there on our next trip!

We were at AK last week and when we got to our bus stop, the AofA bus was empty so we jumped on and took a tour of the resort. It is fantastic. It was so empty, with just a few people in the pool area. The bridge was open to Pop and a few people were walking across. I liked how they have the pool area locked and you have to have a room key to access the pool to keep the Pop crowds out. The dining area was an upgrade from the value resorts and the whole resort had a moderate feel to me. We will probably be staying there a few nights in the future.

Leaving for 2 weeks at AoA on Wednesday
Saw a great pictorial on another site of all the Cars and the wonderful theming in the area. There are plenty of photo op setups.

We haven't been in WDW since '05 and stayed at POP. I have a bunch of pics of the unfinished side since we were on the 3rd floor of the '70 building facing the lake. I'm thinking about taking the stroll around hourglass lake now that the resort is nearly complete.

    Ready to roll!!

We're heading to WDW in November, and are planning to eat dinner here at the food court our first night. Can't wait to check it out! We've seen the "Drawing Board" videos that they keep releasing about AoA. It looks fantastic.

I just got back from my trip to AoA. We stayed in Nemo, but took a few walks over to the Cars and Lion King sections (LK just opened while we were there).

If you want to maximize your Cars experience, I'd go at dusk and get pics before and after the lights are on. I have pictures of each car and area and they are awesome. The nighttime is really special with the Cozy Cone sign and some other lighting effects.
