Character meet and greets

Heading to Universal for first time next Wednesday. Are there Marvel characters to meet? Do we do autographs with them? Would it be crazy to ask for their autograph in a Disney autograph book? Any tips for character meetings at Universal?

LOVE the Universal character meets!!!

They (mostly) are waaaay more interactive and fun with the kids. We were there in November and there were Marvel characters, Seuss, Sponge Bob, Scooby, Shaggy, Madagascar and many others.

They will sign a Disney book but be prepared for some razzing about it.

I ended up taking video while others took stills, just because they were such a hoot to watch afterwards and relive the whole great experience!

The Marvel characters are great... Awesome personalities with them... They interact in ways you will never see any other character interact with you... And not just with kids... In october, i was the geeky Marvel fanboy making sure I got my picture taken with all the Marvel charcaters they had out that day... Green Goblin was the best... He had me put my hands up to his throat as if I was choking him out... He then posed in a position making it look like he was being choked and I was over powering him.. I have my pictures saved on a SD card in my camera, I never did upload them to my computer or else I'd PM you a link to show you how awesome their costumes look..

I met Captain America, Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Dr. Doom, Green Goblin, and Rogue... Spiderman has his own photo op inside a gift shop across from the attraction... You take the picture in front of a green screen and they add the background when you get your picture developed... of course, you don't have to buy the picture, you can have someone take a picture with your own cam, but they will also take the picture you can buy, no escaping that...

I also remember Shaggy and Scooby Do were out... I think Dora comes out... Shrek and Donkey and Fiona I believe... Woody Woodpecker and his girlfriend, not sure of her name, did meets, not sure if they still do... I know they have the Simpsons and Minion "friends" but not sure if they ever come out for meets...

There are no Harry Potter characters as per contract terms with JK Rowling... The closest you'll get are Team Members dressed as Hogwarts students and the Frog Choir... Also the Hogwarts Express conductor makes an appearance...

The last post reminded me of Spiderman.

The characters can be anywhere. We were shopping in the trading post on the way out and I walked over to a shirt display with Spiderman on top of it. Just as I got beside it, he moved to look at me! Scared me half to death, since I thought it was a mannequin . . . not a "man" equin! And I have no idea how he stayed so still on that little display top.

Everyone has given you a great list of characters between both of the Universal theme parks. Here are a few I don't think were mentioned: The Simpsons, Betty Bop, Popeye, Lucy, Marilyn Monroe and other old time Hollywood Stars.

Woody Woodpecker still comes out, saw him in October, and he was great with his "fans".

They really loved getting their picture taken with Ricky and Lucy After the I love Lucy exhibit. We purchased inexpensive spiral bound notebooks that came with a matching pen for autographs. My daughter lost her pen and Donkey told us go in any gift shop and tell them and they'll give her another. I thought he was nuts but they did!!! We love universal. Going back next year!!!
