    Default POP Refillable Mug Chip?

I just read that POP has a chip in their refillable drink mug! I heard Disney was thinking of this but I was wondering if it really happened and how it works? Thanks.

I think they were running a test of RFID technology mugs at one of the All-Stars resorts. Not sure about their use at Pop Century. Anyone?

I was at the Pop this past week. There is no RFID chip in use there.

We were at POP in September and they had just started using the mugs with the chips in them. If you hold them up to a bright light and look at the bottom of the mug you can see them implanted in the plastic.

I have mugs from other trips I have used to take drinks to work and they last a long time. My mug from our September trip cracked within a few weeks of getting home-very disappointed it didn't last longer

Just using the mug isn't any different- they fill like before and the drink dispensers don't look any different than before. My understanding is you have to wait a certain amount of time before they will refill and any old mugs from past visits won't fill.

This was my understanding as well, but this was clearly NOT the case last week at POP. I purposely filled the mug, poured it out (it was mostly ice) and immediately refilled it. No problem. There was no signage that even hinted that they were using a different system.

I just checked the mugs we purchased at POP last week - there is no sign of a chip on the bottom or anywhere else.

Perhaps they were testing the RFID system in September, and went back to the old system?
