Crowds Marathon Week?

My family along with DGF are planning a trip to Disney and Venice, FL between New Year's and Marathon Week. As finances would have it, we would only have money for one day, one park. This is DGF's second trip to WDW, and she wants to see Epcot. Would it be better seen over New Year's or wait until Marathon Week?

No question in my mind that I would hold off and go marathon weekend simply because of crowd sizes.

Definitely wait until marathon week. Marathon week is crowded, but nothing like New Year's Eve and Day.

Marathon week (the week after the marathon) is not crowded at all. I love that week!!! The weekend of the marathon is moderate, but certainly much better than around New Year's.
