Football Fever

6/14/10 Three Walt Disney World locations are hosting special events for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The ESPN Wide World of Sports Grill (formerly the All-Star Cafe) at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex is featuring the games in 3D television. The venue is offering a breakfast seating for the 7:00 am games, and lunch seatings for the 10:00 am and 2:30 pm games; all featuring ESPN’s live 3D television technology. Starting June 26th, the venue will offer a buffet with guaranteed seating. On July 11th, the venue will offer a special seating area for the final game. Reservations can be made for these special events via the Dining Reservation line (1-407-WDW-DINE). The ESPN Club at Disney’s Boardwalk will open early at 10:30 am for all game days now through June 29th and July 2 –3. Raglan Road at Pleasure Island in Downtown Disney is opening at 10:00 am for the games and is also serving a traditional Irish breakfast menu all-day.

Staging the Musical

6/14/10 “High School Musical 3: Senior Year, Right Here! Right Now!” is being presented in a slightly different form through August 14th. During this time, the show is being performed on a temporary stage in front of the Sorcerer Hat instead of the typical float unit. The temporary stage is being used after dark for the Rock’n’Glow Dance Party event.

Showcasing New Tastes

6/14/10 Contrary to previous internal announcements, the Cantina de San Angel major renovations have now been publicly announced to result in two dining locations. When the construction walls come down in Late September 2010, the brand new Hacienda de San Angel and a refurbished Cantina de San Angel will be unveiled. The newly refurbished counter service Cantina de San Angel will open daily at 11:00 am while the new table service Hacienda de San Angel will open daily at 4:00 pm.

5/19/10 More information has been internally announced regarding the major renovations of the Cantina de San Angel. The location has been announced to be re-christened "Hacienda de San Angel" when it re-opens in September 2010. .

One Man’s Refurb ...

6/14/10 One Man’s Dream at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is scheduled for a multi-month closure Late Summer through Mid-Fall 2010. The attraction is scheduled to be closed for refurbishment August 16 through November 2, 2010. A reason for the lengthily refurbishment has yet to be announced.

Auf Wiedersehen und Hallo

6/14/10 A name and a few more details have been announced for the Werther’s Candy Shop scheduled to open this Fall in the Germany Pavilion of Epcot’s World Showcase. The new location will be called Karamelle-Kueche. The store will feature caramel popcorn, caramel apples, caramel-covered marshmallows and caramel-covered strawberries made fresh daily in its show kitchen. The store will also feature pre-packaged caramels, fudge, brownies, cupcakes and cookies. Despite these further details, a hard opening date has not been announced; Late September 2010 is the most specified opening for this location.

5/19/10 Epcot Cast have reported that the Germany pavilion will be undergoing a major retail change this Fall. It has been internally announced that the Goebel retail location will be replaced by a Werther's Candy Shop. The new location is planned to give Guests the opportunity to watch some of the candy being made and will feature a giant cauldron. The new Werther's location is scheduled to open "September 2010", although a closure date for the Goebel store has reportedly not been announced.

Keep the Good Times Returning

6/14/10 The Good Times Gathering Spot has been announced to return to the Animal Kingdom for most of Summer 2010. The entertainment area will be open in Camp Minnie-Mickey June 13 through August 7, 2010 from 10:00 am till 3:00 pm daily. As previously, the area will feature character meet & greets, storytelling with Pocahontas and a live DJ.

Retail Reshuffling

6/14/10 Guests familiar with the Emporium in the Magic Kingdom should plan on extra time to find their favorite wares on their next visit. The Main Street USA shopping staple has recently rearranged most of its merchandise sections. Cast and Guest reports are that all of the displays have been moved with the exception of the Mouseketeer Ears section, the men’s appeal section, the sport apparel section, and the women’s appeal section. Some of the merchandise relocations reportedly include the yearly merchandise section replaced by the Housewares section, the Housewares section replaced by the plush section, the plush section replaced by the toys and collectibles section, and the princess merchandise section replaced by the yearly merchandise section. Based on initial reports, it does not appear that any merchandise section has been eliminated, just moved to a new location.
