    Default Disney inspired field day?!?

    Hello Friends!
I need your help. The elementary school I work at wants to do a Disney World Themed field day and have asked me (Gee I wonder why!?) for ideas. Since this just came up this afternoon I haven't been able to give it much thought yet, so I'm hoping you all might be able to help. The event is held out on the field and in the gym.

So I came up with this
    * Team colors represent characters ie: Mickey= Red, Donald = Blue etc.
    * "Small World" Kids have to relay race carrying empty suitcases while listening to "the song"!
    * Connecting two smaller hula hoops to a larger one and have a bean bag or ball toss through the " hidden Mickey"
*using those gym scooters to "swim" with a "Little Mermaid" theme.
*"Snow White" race while carrying/balancing an apple on a wooden spoon.

So...what can you think of?! Thanks in advance for the help!!!!

Toy Story Mania is based around carnival games, you could probably build several events out of it.

From the Incredibles, Dash's Fun Dash.

Various tumbling events could be incorporated from Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular.

If you have a dunk tank for the kids to dunk teachers, Splash Mountain.

Well, we actually did a Disneyworld themed birthday party for my daughter a couple years ago. So, these are some of the things we did, but I'm sure not all of these would be possible:

    - Print out Optical illusions and put odd things in boxes for the kids to feel. We called this our Journey into Imagination

    - We printed park maps and put them all over. Or put signs like "Downtown Disney" and an arrow.

    - We made mouse ears for the kids to decorate (black posterboard ears onto black headbands)

    - We cut out epcot-like masks and glued onto paint sticks for kids to decorate

    - We did some small games (maybe you could use this with the races), and when they finished they would get a stamp on their mask stick. You could come up with a passport-like id also to stamp.

    - In all the signs, etc. we put some hidden mickeys, then had a scavenger hunt for them.

    - We used brooms and balls to simulate the coconut races at Ohana's.

    - Think of a song or something they know and get some napkin-like twirling (a-la Chef Mickey's) for parts of the song.

When you get everything set up, can we all come??

What do you think of a Cinderella relay race with either mini pumpkins or old shoes?!

How about a Pooh Toss...sounds funny and gross...lol! But, I was thinking more along the lines of buckets of honey with honey blobs to throw in. You could make the blobs out of yellow felt and beans, and use the same yellow felt around the top of the bucket, cut to look like honey dripping down.

Just thought of another one! How about Monorail Madness? Make monorails out of cardboard boxes and decorate them with the colors of the real monorails. Make an Epcot(paint a giant playground ball with silver spray paint) for them to run to, then around and back to their station.

Now you've got me started! Maybe a Mr. Potato Head Maker. You cut out large potato head shapes and all of the accessories...eyes, legs, hat, nose, etc. Have the kids run about 20-30 feet to the head and put one item on, then run back and tag the next kid. Make enough pieces for everyone to go and the first team done wins. Mrs. Potato Head would be great if you need a bunch of pieces...just make some jewelry.

Okay...last one! Sorry, I just love doing theme parties and I always have games to go with the themes. I have never done a Disney World theme, so my mind won't let me think of anything else.
How about a Snow White Sweep? You'll need a broom, 7 safety cones, 1 print-outs of each dwarf and a red ball. Tape a dwarf to each of the 7 cones and spread them out in a straight line. Sweep the apple(red ball) around each of the cones, weaving in and out(like soccer practice). The kids go to the end and back again to give the broom to the next kid.

Ahhh! It just came to me! We can have all of the adults dress as Mouseketeers!!! Wear jeans and tee shirts with mouse ears. Just put last names ie:"Ms. Smith" instead of first names! I keep thinking there has got to be something we can do with test track! It sounds like it should be included, or maybe Mission Space?!?!

You have some great ideas. I use to do theme parties for my son when he was smaller and also loved to come up with the ideas. I would start planning his parties 2 months before. I miss it

Sounds like your school will have a great Disney inspired field day

These are some great ideas. I'm actually going to do this next year. I did Suess this year, since we hadn't planned our Disney vacation at the time I started planning Field Day.

There are also tons of field day ideas out there on the internet. Google field day ideas and it will link you to Sportime other Physical Education websites. Search disney and then just modify some of their ideas for the size of your school and the ages of the kids. I do all my kids on the same day all day, but most of the people in my district do different grades on different days. Have fun!

I love this idea - my husband does field day for our kids school - hope you don't mind, but I'll be borrowing some of your ideas. Several moms at the school are fellow Disney nuts, what a great way to get them involved!!! I'd love to hear the Dr. Suess ideas too!

Ok so we are finally getting to the big day! Any last minute ideas out there? How about time filler games? For example I have been feeding my kids a ton of cereal so I can put Toy Story cereal boxes on top of a pyramid and they can do a bean bag toss. of course I am trying to find some old toy story toys to toss at the boxes!

We are using the playground equipment as the Swiss family Robinson treehouse and the kids have to make it from the "living room" to the "Kitchen" without leaving the treehouse (getting off the equipment. The swings are part of Tarzan etc.

Any more ideas would be great! Thanks!
