 Viking Ship gone & CA Grill rehab
read that the Viking ship in Norway is gone
and that the CA Grill is going to have a rehab.
any more info?

A Ship Pillaging
12/9/08 Epcot’s Norway pavilion will soon be experiencing a fairly noticeable cosmetic change. Construction Permits have been filed to demolish the Viking Ship that is somewhat prominently displayed at the pavilion. The structure, formerly of play structure use, has recently been used mostly as a photo back-drop. The construction permits have been filed with the Description of Property of, “Epcot Norway Viking Ship” and the Description of Improvements as, “Demo Viking ship, salvage props, safety deck material, back fill included electrical.” The schedule for this project is not clear at this time.

Really? It was surrounded by a big curtain when we were there the weekend after Thanksgiving and you could clearly see workers behind it dismantling it.
They must have started it like immediately after the holiday ended.

seems like a waste....it wasnt costing them anything since it was blocked off to people climbing on it was it?
They should update the movie in Norway instead of dismantling the ship, which added a Viking touch.
Meet and Greet....of course since they are cutting CMs/characters it will be a meet and greet for guests greeting guests.

Well, actually, this past August, it WAS the site for an Intercot mini-meet.
It does seem like such a shame and a waste of time and money to dismantle it if there were no plans for the area other than a garden that I saw a pic of on another site.

That was such a perfect spot for the mini greet too! I am sad to see it go. It certainly wasnt an eyesore, and I think people really enjoyed it. Much better than a garden.....Just my opinion.

We were at EPCOT on Wednesday the 26th and I remember specifically leaning against it as the DW and Dd went to the restroom right their next to the ship.
When Disney decides to do something - they move quick!

I have a question about California Grill. Are they changing the look, or just doing some cleaning and repair?
