What are the chances? (MVMCP related)

Since we are unable to go to WDW this summer, , we are hoping to take the kids on an impromptu disney vacation near Christmas. My question is, what are the chances of purchasing MVMCP tickets at the gate. There will be very little planning for this trip if we make it, but we would like to attend the Christmas party.

If it's not on a weekend and not too close to Christmas you can often get tickets at the gate. The closer you get to Christmas, and most every weekend, usually sell out ahead of time.
