This is insane --- my Disney DELUXE Dining Plan ADR's
January trip -----
Okay guys....my husband talked me into getting the DELUXE dining plan. I was hesitant about it at first....but, since we will be staying using our DVC, we won't have to pay for accomodations....and we are AP holders, so the only money we will have to spend is airfare and food. Which, made my husband, want to spend the extra money for the DELUXE version.
I am FINALLY done making the ADR's.
My 'plan' was to GET MY MONEY'S WORTH!!! I made ADR's for a lot of the 2 TS dinner places, and the shows that cost 2 TS credits.
So, here goes:
Arrival day - Wilderness Lodge. Spend day at resort:
- lunch at Trails End - walk over from our resort
- dinner at Artist Pointe - will be easy to dress up since it's at our resort. We chose to do this on this particular night so we wouldn't have to do it another night while we are at the parks. This way, we won't spend time leaving the parks and having to get ready. We are already there.
1st day - AK:
- early lunch at Tusker House
- dinner Jiko (short bus ride to AKL)
2nd day - MK
- early lunch at Crystal Palace
- dinner at Concourse steakhouse (can ride monorail straight there)
3rd day - Epcot
- early lunch at Biergarten
- dinner at Le Cellier
4th day - Hollywood Studios
- early lunch at Brown Derby
- 9:30pm show at Hoop Dee Doo Revue
5th day - Epcot
- early lunch at Teppan Edo
- late dinner at Flying Fish Cafe (catch boat there from Epcot)
6th day - Hollywood Studios
- early lunch at Sci Fi
- dinner at CA Grill
7th day - Epcot
- early lunch at Coral Reef
- dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse
8th day - AK
- early lunch at Yak & Yeti
- go back to resort and get dressed
- late dinner at Narcossee's
9th day - MK
- breakfast at Kona Cafe
- early dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table
10th day - departure day
- lunch at Whispering Canyon before ME picks us up
Plus - 2 snacks a day.
Question: Do we get the refillable mug per person,...or is that just for the Magic Your Way Packages for the Deluxe dining plan?
This seems totally insane. I am hoping that I have planned this to work out for us well. Let me explain:
- I always made the earliest of lunches, and somewhat of a late dinner. So there is almost always a 7-9 hour difference between meals.
- Snacks will be drinks at the parks, or small breakfast items for EARLY mornings.
We NEVER eat this much. But WHY NOT???...we are on vacation. We will not waste food. Meaning --- if we have an ADR, and we aren't 'starving'...we'll get a small entree, etc.
I used EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY CREDITS in making these ADR's. I used a lot of them to go to the 2 TS restaurants/shows:
- Narcossees
- Jiko
- Hoop Dee Doo
- Cinderella's castle
- Brown Derby
- Artist Pointe
- California Grill
- Yachtsman Steakhouse
- Flying Fish
These are all places that we normally wouldn't go to if we used the basic dining plan.
Wish us luck. I'm sure I'll gain some weight!!!!

I just jumped on the Deluxe Dining Plan too! the kids (Tyler 9 and Skyler 3) and I will be at ASMo from January 1 - 13, 2008. I had been over the numbers many times. I had been back and forth about being tied to an ADR. I finally, 26 days out, bit the bullet and did it. I figured my costs for the three of us to eat for 13 days was around $1200.00 and that was for mostly counter services, without extra snacks, and without the price of the refillable mugs. So I figured I paid around $1300.00 for the Deluxe Dining Plan...and if I take the cost of the mugs (that will now be included and the 6 snacks per day figuring at $4.00 per snack) I am only paying about $990.00 for the meals...and what I ended up planning could get to about $1700.00 so we will be eating well and a lot! Here's our dining plan...

I think the kids will be sharing at some of the meals because they either is not enough choicesfor them both to find something they will really eat or there is just going to be enough food for all of us to share. We are going to be stuffed but it is going to be fun!
26 more days!

wow... both of those lineups make me both of your day 4's look tres yummy. was there last month on the regular dining plan... I'm not sure if my stomache could take 2 tableservice's per day. it could barely do 1. both trips look to be eating well for sure.

Your ADRs sound perfect and remember one very basic thing: you don't have to eat every morsel of every course (or even every course for that matter) at every meal.
We also are opting for the Deluxe Plan as we want to experience some of the new TS venues that have opened up since our last trip and revisit some old favorites that are now require 2TS. We're really looking forward to it!
As for the question re: mugs for DVC DP participants, I pulled the information about the Deluxe Dining Plan from the DVC site, and the mugs are mentioned right on the information. So apparently the answer is yes.

OUCH! That's still going to be a ton of money just in tips!
-
Well, I'll be honest.....I'll pay according to their service. Period.
But --- doesn't the Deluxe dining plan have gratuities included?....only charged with a party of 6 or more?

No, the tip is not included in the Deluxe Dining Plan. It is included for parties of 6 or more, regardless of if you are on a Dining Plan. I would guess if your party is 6 or more, you would receive a bill for the 18% tip? I'm rarely ever dining with more than 4 people at WDW, so I do not have any exerience with it.
I like your choices. Hope you get Susie as your server at Narcoossee's. She was great and well worth a tip beyond 18%. Actually, this last trip our service was quite good at all of our restaurants. The food wasn't always, but this was never due to poor service.
My question is are you planning to wear a dressier outfit to a park (like capris) for the times you are going to a signature dining restaurant right from a park? I'm going to make a suggestion to bring a change of shoes for dinner as I think tennis shoes/Crocs may underdress an outfit when you go to dinner and you may feel uncomfortable.

We are changing clothes for Narcossees and Artist Pointe.
The rest will be just regular clothes. I'm not going to dress up for every dinner. Jiko, Flying Fish, CA Grill, The Yactsman Steakhouse, Cinderella's Castle ---- I'm pretty sure they will accept what we will wear.
We may change clothes for CA Grill...

Okay....so the tip is NOT included. (Thank You to everyone who clarified that) I will have to adjust our budget, but I think we'll be able to swing it since we aren't paying for accommodations or tickets this trip.
I used to be a waitress, so I usually pay decent tips. BUT - I also pay according to the service I receive from the server.
Yes, we're excited to try all these 2TS restaurants. I want to see what everyone is raving about.
Does anyone see any changes that I need to make?
The one I'm most looking forward to is Artist Pointe. The least is I'm looking forward to trying is Tusker House Buffet.
I can't wait to go!!!!!!

Sushi?....mmmmmmm....Yeah, I like sushi. Even my son does (well...just the rice and seaweed for him).
At the CA Grill -- -does a CA roll count as an appetizer that can be used on the dining plan?

Good choices for sure but honestly, if I attempted that meal schedule, I feel like I was ALWAYS EATING, or always waiting to eat, or always traveling to eat. And then I'd feel just TOO full. With the current dining plan we feel like we eat too much.
It does sound good though!!!

TyandSkyesmom - If I'm remembering correctly, you and I seem to go around the same time a lot. I hope you have a WONDERFUL trip,...and....I hope you have as much fun as I do in trying the new deluxe dining plan. Yeah - it's a lot of food, and a lot of time....but since both of us are going on extended trips...it doesn't seem so bad because I know we'll end up doing everything we want to do. I'm excited!!!

I am amazed that so many of you people think
you are getting some kind of special meal at
a place like Le Cellier or Flying Fish. Most
likely you all have a restaurant in your area
just as good as most in WDW(and less $$$$).
There is a lot of time spent planing a
vacation around mediocre(and expensive)
food. Please help your mom and pop eatery
back home. Trust me you don't got to come
to Florida to eat good.

You're right, I "don't got to" go to Florida to eat "good". But while I am in Florida, it would be largely inconvenient to support a local mom and pop eatery back home. It just would not make much sense to fly back to Kansas City for each meal.
When selecting a place to eat, I am much more concerned about whether or not I like the place and not so much about what others think of my choice. So go right ahead and be amazed, I'm still going to enjoy eating at LeCellier.

I completely agree with you. Have a great time and don't worry about what other's think, this is your vacation.
P.S. The only thing I didn't see on your list was anything at the Poly restuarants, just an observation.

Abeenormal - I didn't choose O-Hana's because we ate there in October. But, we do have an ADR at Kona's for breakfast near the end of our trip. What's your favorite restaurant in WDW...and why?
Marker - you crack me up!
Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!

Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!
Well as rediculous as it sounds until our January trip I've never been. But I've heard raves about the restuarants in the poly so that's why I suggested it.

Yeah,...O-Hana's is pretty cool. Tasty food. My favorites are the appetizer chips w/sauces (especially the peanut flavored one), potatoes, and their vegetables. I actually liked all that more than I liked the meat. The meat always seems a little bland.
I've eaten at Kona's several times. They have recently changed their menu. Both times --- were excellent for me. In October, I had some kind of peanut chicken. Man....was it good.
When are you going in January?....I'll be there from the 2nd-12th at VWL.
