Default Year of 100 Questions: #51

Today we start the second half visiting a new board (for Y100Q anyway). Which of these two classic Disney movies that are well represented at WDW would you pick: Cinderella or The Lion King?

Y100Q52 will appear over the weekend in the WDW Accommodations board. May even get Q53 in Dining...we'll see.

Think this one over and have a great weekend!

It was a tough choice. I love animals, and the Lion King was an epic movie starring them. On the other hand, Cinderella does appeal to my foot fetish.

I like the Lion King (one of my cats is even named Simba), but I went with Cinderella. It's a classic Disney movie - when I was a kid the local movie theater used to show Disney movies at the matinee during the summer, Cinderella was one of the first that I saw with my sister!

Besides, looking at her castle still chokes me up everytime I see it!

Definitely Cinderella for me... It's a classic Princess story and I'm a sappy romantic at heart.

I went with Cinderella. I think it epitomizes what Walt Disney World is all about. Just keep believing in your dreams and someday they will come true. Such a Disney classic!!!

On the other hand I do love The Lion King too but it just doesn't evoke the sentimental feelings that Cinderella does.

The Lion King is probably the superior movie as far as strong storytelling, writing, and songs. But Cinderella was my favorite as a kid and my love of Cinderella and the classic fairy tales influenced me to do what I do now: write books about women and love. Now if only I could get away with singing mice as secondary characters.

I love the Lion King but I can understand why Cindersoot is in the lead. She is such a Disney Classic that it is hard not to vote for her. Simba still earned my vote!!!

I have always loved Cinderella! I loved to dress up like her as a child. Now my DD9 loves her too! Cindy is her favorite princess and she dresses up as Cinderella almost every Halloween! The movie is absolutely wonderful! I wish they would go back to drawing her the original way!

Cinderella all the way. I've been back and forth with the Lion King. I loved it, than I hated it because everyone else loved it and it was all over the place (Hey I was a pre-teen!). I still like it but not as much the other films from that era.

When I went to WDW in 2002 with my parents, I was 16 years old and hadn't been there in 7 years. You know what my number one goal was? To meet Cinderella. I was devastated when we couldn't get the CRT breakfast, but we found her in Toontown. Look how happy I was: http://http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/sweetanger/01-13-2007021938PM.jpg
When I saw that Suzy was also in the room I almost died. That is Disney magic right there.

Cinderella is the essence of Disney magic -- an orphaned girl who is abused and then becomes princess, all the while retaining her hope and gentle disposition.....
The only life I can think of that would be worse than being a special needs mom is not being one...

Cinderella is an iconic part of the WDW experience. I, like many others here, saw Cinderella as a child and I have happy memories about that. However, I think that Walt would have been very proud of the animators that produced the Lion King. Arielle, Bell, and Simba introduced Disney to a whole new generation of Disney fans. Walt was an innovator and would have loved to see how much the animation medium has evolved since the era of Snow White. So... Simba gets my vote.

Cindy is DW's favorite, plus the icon is the center of WDW, so it was a no brainer!

This was a really tough choice, you can't really compare these two, they are so different and I enjoy them both!

I almost picked Lion King because of its wonderful soundtrack, but Cinderella is a timeless classic (and no one gets trampled by any stampeding animals!), so it edged out and got my vote.

Although I agree that Cinderella is classic Disney and is iconic, Lion King is the better movie with better music IMHO.
