Record 112 Million Guests Visited Disney Theme Parks Worldwide
More Than 60 Million Visited Central Fla. Attractions

    Local6
    April 4, 2007

An estimated 112 million people traveled to Disney theme parks worldwide last year, setting a record, according to a new amusement industry survey.

The report showed that Disney's Magic Kingdom was the most visited theme park in the nation with an estimated 16.6 million guests.

Disneyland in California was the second most visited park in the survey followed by Epcot, Disney-MGM and Animal Kingdom.

The report showed that all of the parks welcomed more guests than the year before, Local 6 reported.

Universal-Orlando finished in sixth place in the survey, which is up slightly from the year before and SeaWorld-Orlando was also up, the report said.

The survey showed that only Universal's Island's of Adventure dropped in attendance.

It was also estimated that 62 million people visited Central Florida theme parks last year.

Interesting statistics on the non-Disney parks in Orlando. Clearly, as Disney World goes so go the other parks in the area. It is pretty clear from the numbers that Universal and the others depend on Disney to be the primary draw.

From the TEA/ERA release that I found online, here are some interesting stats for top north america parks:

    1. MK - 16.64 million attendance - Up 3%
    2. DL - 14.73 million attendance - Up 1.2%
    3. Epcot - 10.46 million attendance - Up 5.5%
    4. MGM - 9.10 million attendance - Up 5.0%
    5. AK - 8.91 million attendance - Up 8.6%
    6. US - 6.00 million attendance - Up 1.2%
    7. DCA - 5.95 million attendance - Up 2.1%
    8. SWO - 5.74 million attendance - Up 2.5%
    9. IOA - 5.30 million attendance - Down 4.8%
    10. USH - 4.70 million attendance - Same

IOA lost two spots from 7th in 2005 to 9th in 2006.

Disney had the top 8 most visited theme parks in the world. TDL was 3rd with 12.9 million, TDS was 4th with 12.1 million, and DLP was 5th with 10.6 million. DCA was 13th with 5.95 million, HKDL was 18th with 5.2 million, and WD Studios wasn't in top 25 with 2.2 million.

Disney's TL and BB both finished as the top 2 waterparks in that order, each getting 2.05 million and 1.88 million visitors respectively.
