Renting Vacation House for 2 weeks...need suggestions!

We are planning on staying 2 weeks in Orlando for my 40th birthday with my parents and sister and her kids. There will be 4 adults and 4 kids (ages 1-10). We are thinking about renting a condo or house, or looking into affordable housing near Disney and/or Universal. I wish we could stay the whole time at AKL or Saratoga Springs, but we are looking to keep it around $3,000 for the whole 2 weeks. A house or condo with pool access and full kitchen, wash dryer is a must.

Does anyone have experience with staying at a rental home or condo? We're planning 2-3 days at Disney, 2 Universal days, Legoland maybe, and maybe a drive down to Daytona or the beach nearby.

Thanks! We are getting excited about this trip. It will be our biggest trip together in a long time!

Let me add- my sister lives in Hawaii and instead of flying into Memphis, she is wanting to fly straight to Orlando and then spend Christmas break there instead of having to fly to Memphis, fly to Orlando, then fly back to Memphis. We're thinking 2 weeks is about how long she'll have for break, and my parents and I would fly down and meet her in Orlando and all stay together.

We rented a house once when we took some close friends. 4 adults, 4 boys. We had a 6 bedroom home with our own pool, about a 10 min drive from the main gate. That was in 2002. I believe we went through VRBO. It was super easy - barely an inconvenience. Significantly less expensive than staying on property. But not nearly as convenient.
