Seen the film several times and never noticed this error when Edgar is on top of a haystack and is fishing for his hat, which Napolean is wearing.
The fishing line feeds from the top of the reel. However, as Edgar is lowering the hook he's winding counter-clockwise which would actually raise the hook!
