Birthday Trip To The Lodge - Travel Day
Nov 24th - This was the day we went to Manchester Airport here in the UK, I always count this day as the first day of our holiday although we didn't fly until the next day. Stayed at the Radisson Blu which is attached to the airport. Lovely hotel, highly recommend it.
Travel to the airport largely uneventful apart from a couple of wrong turns on the new roads that had been built around the airport and we didn't know about.
Nov 25th - After a lovely breakfast at the hotel, special assistance met us at the lobby and they pushed Calvin in his wheelchair whilst I pushed the luggage cart, fast check-in with Virgin Atlantic and onto security. They recognised the sunflower lanyard I had on as I have General Anxiety Disorder and were very patient and explained what I needed to do, ie take off shoes etc. After hanging around departures after picking up some duty free make-up for me ;) we boarded and took off on time.
Cabin crew were great making sure Calvin had his oxygen sorted ( pre-ordered but I was worried it wouldn't be there ) and landed about an hour ahead of time making flight time about 8 and a bit hours. Assistance again met us at the door, and took us all the way through to check-in desk at the lobby of the Hyatt in the airport. Quickest ever we been through the airport about an hour from landing to hotel!!
Again, we recommend this hotel, super comfy beds and despite a balcony overlooking inside of the terminal, never heard a thing. Slept very well.
