I think it's really a personal preference. A few years ago, we spent one night at Disney prior to a Disney cruise and then a few nights at Universal after the cruise. Each aspect of the trip was enjoyable, but different and I don't feel it would have been better one way or the other.
We are doing a combo trip on 2018. We decided to do park first and cruise second. The thought being that we can be on the crowds and the rush while we are energized at the start of vacation. And the take 3 days to be mellow and chill.
I'd rather do the parks first and then enjoy the cruise and relax. The parks always seem to be get up early and go-go-go until you drop for me.
The cruise on the other hand for me is very relaxing - the go-go-go of the park is left behind and I really get to unwind and relax.
So, for me, given the choice, parks then cruise.
Thanks for the responses everyone, looks like we may have to do cruise first, parks second because of logistics of everyones schedule.
Our family very much prefers cruise first and then park. With all the over-eating we do on the cruise, it gives us a few days to walk some of it off at the parks!
When we had to decide this we did Cruise first. Not only because we have some in our party with weak stomachs, so going frqa Cruise ship to an airplane was not appealing. But also we just felt this was an extension of a vacation.
