Disney's Animal Kingdom Hosts "Taste of Africa Street Party" 7/9/10 - 7/24/10

Disney’s Animal Kingdom has announced “The Taste of Africa Street Party” event will run from July 9th through July 24th, 2010. The event will be held in the Africa section of the park and will run from 3:45 pm till park close, daily.

The event has been announced to include kiosks selling African food and beverage offerings, an African beer and wine tasting in the Tamu Tamu courtyard, performances by Wasslou, live DJ and a dance party, kiosks selling authentic African merchandise, and educational animal programs with the Harambe Wildlife Team.

On July 12th and 19th, the event will continue till the end of the Evening Extra Magic Hours.

My daughter is a chef at the Tusker House and they are very excited about this! They are really gearing up and have some fantastic things planned.:number1: Too bad I miss it by 2 days:(.

We will be there 7/10-7-17....Plan to be at AK on 7/12. Sounds like fun.

Hey, Momef3grls..DW is from Bangor...born in Pen Argyl...I grew up between Saylorsburg and Brodheadsville.
Or at least, lived there during the time I was expected to grow up.
Much of my travels (in those long ago days before 33) were on 512, (don't tell DW, but I used to date a girl from Bethlehem) and always got stuck at the light in Moorestown...Think they waited for me, and switched the light just to catch me!

I live just down from that infamous light! Can't wait to go visit my DD, July 26th can't come fast enough.

This seems cool.
But why such the breif & random period of time? I wish it lasted longer, I'd like to experience it...

Too bad they can't do this the weeks before the F&WF starts...It would be a nice precursor to the full festival...AND we would be there to take advantage of it!! :D

This was my first thought too. My guess is Disney wants to see if they can make money off it before they expand it.

Hope they do it again! The food and the music sound like a really good time!

Animal Kingdom Cast are reporting that this July offering is a test run.

Should this test run be "successful", it is anticipated that this event and/or other similar events will be offered more regularly.

OMG! My daughter just called she gets to be in the parade:cloud9:. They have a special parade in the afternoon. She is going to be doing a demonstration about sugar cane. So if anyone is lucky enough to be there stop and say hi to Ashley.
