Solo in September - Pre-Trip
Hi! I'm a bit late with this as I'm already on day #3 of my trip. Oops!
So here's the deal: I had planned a solo trip for September 2017, staying at the Boardwalk. Everything was planned and finalized and the trip was a celebration of me getting a new job after 5 years at one I hated. And then, bam! Hurricane Irene hit. I was supposed to fly to MCO the Saturday it was going to land in Orlando, and the parks were announced to close for two days. I had to cancel my entire trip (luckily received a full refund for everything).
I wanted to re-book for October, but all the Disney resorts were full. I was really bummed.
But then my mom suggested that me and my dad go together and stay off-site. My parents are Marriott time-share owners and my mom still works full time but my dad is retired and they said they would give me a 2-bedroom unit, on them. She said she wouldn't mind us going without her and would cat-sit for me so we went ahead and booked.
It was a great trip, albeit not the full Disney experience. Plus I had lost all my 60-day FP+ so had to get what we could get. But I saved all the money I spent on the original trip and saved it for this year. My parents are ridiculously generous so I only had to pay for my flight and park tickets. My dad rented the car and paid for all our meals together.
Which brings me to this current trip. I still wanted a solo adventure. And now I wanted to go full-out. I had two years' vacation budget to play with, and after the loss of my beloved cat, decided to treat myself to a theme park view at Contemporary.
I booked this trip last November. 10 months of anticipation. But it all worked out with the planning and now the trip is here!
Stay tuned...
