ok,as roller coasters go,it's not the most intense i've been on,but it is definitly the most intense at disney.
it's hands down the best ride, the best cue...
Personally I didn't care for the ride. I suffer from severe migraines, and the one time I rode resulted in a migraine. DW got motion sickness, but DD14 liked the ride. DD would rather do RNRC an additional time.
I don't like roller coasters especially begin jerked around but I love this one. It is intense but it is also smooth which makes it so much better. I would suggest it unless you get motion sick or headaches like mentioned above. I won't ride any of them at Six Flags- way too intense! It is really a fun coaster.
Everest is very intense in comparison to other Disney rides.
Compared to the big coasters at a place like Cedar Point . . . .just medium.
I'd rate it as slightly below the intensity of Hulk and dueling dragons at IOA.
But it has great themeing that outshines all those others.
I feel that it is equal to the rides you've tried. It
is sooo smooth.
I guess it would depend on why you are not a coaster nut. I am, I love them!!
But, I have a history of back problems. I think Everest (and Rock N Roller Coaster) is so much smoother than space mountain. I enjoy the smoother coasters much more.
I guess it all depends on your perspective.
If I was going to rate the Disney Coasters in Intensity:
1)RNRC
2) EE
3) SM
4) BTMRR
But as others have said compared to a Six Flags or Cedar Point...not very intense...but very smooth and no butterfly feelings in your belly.
I found it to be a rather "mild" roller coaster. It was more "themeing" than being as coastery as it could have been. A little bit of a "switchback" (backwards slide then forward again on a different track). NO loops.
It's very much worth the ride. It's cute...you race through the mountian looking for the elusive Yeti. It's an "expedition". You'll regret NOT trying it.
I lover coasters and I love EE!! The one thing that scares me is the height of the ride...
It is rather smooth in comparison to other coasters but can give a small headache...which I normally do not get on other rides.
Overall it is fast moving, with a few drops, and some backward motion.
I would agree with this assement. Fear should not be the thing that keeps you from this coaster. It's a good ride.
My nephew has always been nervous about going on thrill rides, mostly from fear. I asked him to look at the people coming off the ride.... most of them were younger kids. I told him you need to ask yourself that if they are coming off the coaster fine, why wouldn't you?? He's later told me that that was the one peice of advice that helped him overcome his fear. Now, it's a different story if you are physically affected by such rides. Some people's bodies just can't take the effects. In these cases, it can be hard to overcome. Good luck!
My opinion is this: there are two types of people in the world-those who enjoy roller coasters and those who don't. If you belong to the latter group, you probably won't enjoy EE, as it is medium intense. I belong to the second group myself. I realized a few years ago that there's a big difference between ENJOYING a ride, or just scraping up the courage to get through one. I don't enjoy coasters (though I have been on many), so I no longer "do" them, and I don't feel the least bit bad about it.
Let's just say it's more intense than SM, but less intense than RNRC. It doesn't jerk you around like RNRC. When I rode EE for the first time it had just opened like two weeks before and it was so smooth. Now it's a little rough, but that much.
I totally agree with this ranking. I'm not a coaster person AT ALL, and felt horrible after the last time I rode RNRC. However, I've never had any problems with EE. In fact, I've riden it multiple times in a row with absolutely no issues. It's one of my all time favorite rides.
This is a great point. I'm also in the latter group--I don't like roller coasters. The only reason I go on them is to be with my sister or because I just want to try something new. I've been on EE, and you can definitely tough it out. Will you enjoy it? Probably not, if you're not a coaster person. But you won't necessarily hate it, either. Bottom line is that if it's something you want to do for your wife, I think it is doable.Quote:

I love roller-coasters... but can't ride jerky ones due to a neck surgery... Everest is not jerky and as roller coasters go, it is on the milder side... although it is the most extreme one at Disney IMO... the only thing I didn't really care for.. even though I do love it... is the going backwards... it makes me feel a bit motion sick.
Everest is more severe than the rides you mentioned... but not as bad as Rockin Roller Coaster. Everest does not go upside down or have the 0 to 60 take off. I think that if you don't mind going backwards.. you will love this ride. I have rode it 16 times in two trips and it is my absolute favorite ride!
I'm not a coaster person either. I've ridden Space Mtn. & BTMRR too... EE was much more intense than those two. I rode it just to do it and I didn't enjoy it.
Everest is more intense than Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain for sure. Space Mountain only goes about 20-25 mph max, it just feels faster because you're in the dark.
How you rate intensity is kind of defined by what you deem intense. I think a lot of people rate going upside down as one of the most intense maneuvers on a roller coaster. That being said, RnRC is probably more intense in that regard. However, a lot of people are caught off guard by the backwards portion of EE, which isn't a common element on roller coasters and can be disorienting.
In comparison to many of the roller coasters out there today, EE and RnRC are not very intense at all in terms of what they do. There's coasters out there that are twice as fast, twice as high, and do many more inversions. If you can handle the family coasters at MK, and think you're ready to move up to the next level, EE would be the best option I think.
