I watched it last night! I can't imagine taking 8 kids anywhere let alone to Disney World! I really like the show, i saw their countdown to disney calender a few episodes back, so i was really hoping that they would do a disney episode.
Yes, I sav the show and I admire them for taking them on a 19 hour drive. My 3 yr old dd loves this show, its all she wants to watch. She calls it Jon and Kate plus late??????????
Yep - watched it too. Made my husband watch some of it since we are also planning an 18 hour drive to WDW this summer. I said if they can do it with 8 kids, we can do it with 3!!
I really liked that fact that they showed the kids interacting with the characters. My biggest fear is that my 3 year old twins will be terrified of Mickey and Minnie.
I watched it as well and i was laughing and crying thru the whole thing. it reminds me of our annual trip to florida . we drive 18 hours every year to go visit my mom in port st lucie and they did awesome with 8 kids. i had to laugh at kate though when she would not let the kids on the floor in the hotel with out shoes and when the one daughter spilled ice cream and she told jon that she is ruined lol. I so love this show. it reminds me alot of my household and me and my b/f even though we only have 2 here at home.
Shoot, I missed it! :( I love this show. I sit and watch in amazement at how they keep it all together!! Kate is one organized girl. But with that many kids I guess you have to be.
I will be watching for re-runs.
i love this show..but i never manage to catch it when it airs..im always watching repeats..
and i remember them talking about WDW and there countdown..and was wondering about a disney episode also..im so glad to know that there is one..hopefully i can catch on repeat this weekend or something!! :mickey:
I was waiting for this one to come on.I end up watching the repeats every time.Does anybody know when the repeat comes on?I know they are on TLC all the time.DId they stayt on-site or off?I want to watch this episode.
They stayed at WL. They had 3 girls (friends of the family) meet them there to help out. When they got to their room on the table were Mickey ears for all (yes they had their names on them) and a note from Mickey himself!
I watched it. I had seen the countdown in an episode awhile back so I've been waiting anxiously for this episode. I was a little disappointed with the fact that over 1/2 the episode was about planning the trip/getting there. I also wanted more footage at the parks and they only showed them at Magic Kingdom. I'm just amazed how they managed to pull it off with 8 kids 7 and under.
I'm not seeing it again on the TLC website. I'll do some more digging though.
Hey folks, so many of you mention that you knew this episode was coming up. Would you mind letting me know if you are aware of upcoming "Disney" tv so I can include these shows in the weekly thread? Thank you so much! :notworth:
I am not familiar with this show. What is it about, what station is it on, etc.
Also, as for kids being scared of the characters I have a few tips on that. My wife owns a costume store and rents large mascot type costumes as well as Halloween type of costumes. We have learned from watching children and talking to parents that how the parents handle the situation has a lot to do with how the kids handle it. Granted, even if you do everything right your kids may still freak out but not normally.
Here are our tips;
1. Don't make a huge deal out of meeting the characters before you go or while you are there. The tremendous anticipation that builds up in a child when the parent builds up the meeting often translates into fear when the child actually comes face to face with the character.
2. Do try to expose your children to as many costumed characters as you can before you go. This is a great time of year because you have a great chance to do this with Santa Claus.
3. When you actually meet the character don't rush up and make a huge fuss over the character. Instead, stay with your child and talk in as normal a tone of voice as possible.
4. Most characters who are capable of doing so will go down on one knee to greet very small children, you should do the same thing so that you, the character, and your child are all on about the same level.
5. If your child is reluctant but not throwing a fit speak to them in a normal tone of voice and ask them to touch the characters hand with you. Then when the child is touching the character slowly remove your own hand.
6. If your child does freak don't continue to waste your time or the character's time trying to force the child on the character. Also don't berate the child or make them feel bad for freaking out.
Good Luck!
If you havent seen it yet it will be on the Discovery channel next tues nite at 10pm.
I just can't figure out how Kate stays so centered and patient! I love this show.
Mickey Ears off to John & Kate!!!:mickey:
Totally addicted to this show, so it was very fun to see them at WDW. Those kids are so cute and so well behaved. I think Jon and Kate are two very amazing, funny and patient people.
They usually air Jon and Kate plus 8 marathons Sundays on TLC.
I saw the previews for this (even though I don't watch it) and wondered if anyone on Intercot saw them in the parks while they were there.
I always turn on TLC if I can't find anything else to watch but Jon and Kate Plus 8 is my favorite show on the channel. However, I watched it late one night and only stayed awake up to the part where they all got their mickey ears. I'm also amazed at how they manage 8 children- it baffles me! :mickey:
I just finished watching this show. I love Jon and Kate, I don't know how they do it!! The thought of taking 8 kids to WDW scares me, but they pulled it off well!! I'm glad they got to do it! :mickey: I laughed when Jon was making fun of Kate for overreacting at the ice cream incident!
I checked tivo and upcoming shows are:
Tues 12/18 at 10pm on Discovery Health
Wed 12/19 at 1am on Discovery Health
Sat 12/22 at 12pm on Discovery Health
Sat 12/22 at 8pm on Discovery Health
Sat 12/22 at 11pm on Discovery Health
Hmm are we talking about the same Kate? Personally I think this chick is slightly whacko. But that's just me, and part of why I love this show. I was also disappointed they only showed a small portion of the actual WDW trip. I liked seeing her PS' written on her calendar at home.
Back to Kate though, I can't stand the way she treats Jon like one of the kids. The whole Organic, kids feet can't touch the floor of the hotel room and the kids can't get dirty thing just irks me. But then again, I don't have 8 kids so...
Kate has her quirks, and of course she and Jon have some words sometimes, but the way they can keep such positive outlooks and give those 8 kids as much individual attention and love as they do is flat out amazing. I know they get a lot of help, but the work involved in their situation has to be staggering. I raised one single child and some days I didn't know which way was up. I truly do not think I have what it would take to raise 8 kids, espcially all so close in age. My hat is off to them both!
JaneytMegan I have to say I totally agree with you. I can't stand how she talks to her husband. Especially when she screams at him in public places or when she yells "HELLO" when she tries to get his attention. I get embarrassed for her when she acts like that.
Joy
I love this show !
And I think that Kate talks down to John a bit too much. Ok, yes she is home all day with the kids but he is trying to work to support a family of 10. Give the guy a break, Kate.
I love little Hannah - she cracks me up !
. . . and I need to find out why my Tivo didn't pick up this episode . . .
FYI- There is a new episode on tonight at 9pm. :mickey:
I checked my Tivo last night - since it's a special, it had it's own listing on Guide. It wasn't Jon & Kate Plus 8 (which is what my Season Pass is for), but Jon & Kate Hit the Road . . . or something like that.
It's airing twice tonight so you can still catch it.
I have watched this show off and on because it just totally amazes me how this mom and dad raises a set of twins (ages 6) and a group of sextuplets (ages 3). The mom and dad are so personable, and it's fun to watch the kids. Last night I was able to watch the episode where they packed up their family of 10 (luggage in a U-Haul trailor, of course) and drove 19 hours from Pennsylvania to Disney World!! They stayed at Wilderness Lodge. The Learning Channel got lots of footage of things that they did such as Magic Kingdom, Cirque de Soliel, a special meet and greet with the Princesses, etc... It just looked like so much fun. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. What a treat for that family!! It's too bad Kate couldn't have run off and been pampered at the Grand Floridian Spa or something!
I love this show and it would have been very cool to see them there! I wish they would of showed the whole trip instead of just a small portion of it but anyways it was great!:mickey:
This makes me think of the opening of the show when they say something like "while raising two sets of multiples doesn't always bring out the best in us....."
I'm the first to admit that I'd definitely be a lot more witchy than she is if I were in that situation. I think they do remarkably well, and Jon does a good job of giving it back to Kate when she deserves it. I think it's a good match.
I agree. It seems like they have an understanding with each other that sometimes the stress of having 8 kids is going to make them be mean to each other but they truly love one another. Later they seem to do a good job of laughing off how mean they were. I think they both understand that they are both in a stressful situation.
In the new season Jon gets a job where he stays home more and Kate was so thrilled and Jon was happy to spend more time with his kids and his wife. It was nice to see!
I also think as the kids have gotten older they have gotten better. I love the way you can really tell the different personalties now.
I love Jon, Kate and the 8. They are such sweet kids! It is my very favorite show...I never miss an episode!
Sure Kate can get a bit  sometimes, but she has 8 kids under the age of 8...any one with that amount of stress and isn't  isn't right in the head!
Did you see John and Kate Plus Eight tonight? They packed up the van and a trailer and took all the kids to WDW. It was fun to watch. This may have been a repeat since I just started watching the show but I enjoyed it. Just made me want to go again SOON! I loved their comments about the strollers and wanting to buy some for their clan. :)
Sorry if I sound like I was from another world last night. I didn't see this thread and they moved my post to this thread. I really enjoyed watching them at the park and wished they had shown the rest of their trip. Maybe they will sooner or later. Having been with several toddlers lately, I can sympathize. What good friends these other girls are to always go with them on their trips to help with the kids.
This particular show wasn't scheduled to run last night and had I not been watching the two previous episodes, I wouldn't have seen this one because I was just getting ready to turn the channel.
Ok so I just love this show!!! Does anyone else watch it?
I love Monday nights when the new episodes air and I watch them when they repeat later on that night or in the week. I just think it's a neat show to watch. It's true like Kate said one time that this is what goes if people were to peek into our windows.
All the children are adorable! One of the twins, Mady can be a little annoying to me at times, but she's a 7yr old, and like Jon & Kate have said she likes attention and wants to be in control. Also, I'm not saying all 7yr olds are like that, but I was glad during one episode they commented on her behavior and that they were working on it.
I absolutely loved, LOVED the special one hour show of them all taking the family to WDW!! Kate is a Disney fan herself, and even has a Winnie the Pooh tattoo on her ankle. That is my favorite episode of all time seeing them and the children at WDW and meeting the characters! :mickey:
Just wondering if anyone else out there in Intercot land watches this show? I just like to hear different peoples opinions on this show.
:D
I just saw the one the other day where they flew to Denver. Oh. my. goodness. I could never have done it, and I'm surprised Kate didn't have more of a breakdown. And bless those friends of theirs.
That house they stayed in was really nice!
I watched the Disney episode weeks and weeks ago. It may have been over a month ago. So I'm sure it will air again if you missed it. Don't worry....
