The changes to Space Mt. sound really cool! Makes me want to make a return Halloween trip to DLR. :bat:
Do it!
I am going to be at DL from 24th-26th for the opening of VGC. I am so excited. We have a reservation at Minnies Breakfast in the Park on the 25th for 8:30am. Park opens at 9am. Are you feeling my strategy?
Of course I will report back.
Have to transfer my notes into a trip report that are sitting on my desk as I am typing this.
Among possible food items available during the Halloween season at Disneyland, may be the introduction of a flavored churro- A pumpkin/spiced churro!
EEEeeeww! Churros.
LOL.
I know people love them.
I'm just not one of those people that do.

I was just at DLR two days ago and HM and SM were closed to get ready for all the Halloween events. Does anyone know when they will open up again? I'm in the area and this will be my first holiday at any Disney park (crazy, I know)! I can't wait to plan my return trip to see it all. I know the news section mentioned the 25th-do you think everything is unveiled then or maybe at different times?
Thanks!
Does anyone know if Space Mountain is going to have soft opening for "Ghost Galaxy"?

Tonight is the official start of the Halloween Time fun at DLR ... and Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy and the Halloween Screams fireworks premier tonight!
The first pic if the new fireworks, the 2nd is the ghost in Space Mountain!
Very cool. Wished that was offered last year. :(
Halloween Screams is great!
Ghost Galaxy needs version 2.0. It isn't bad, but found myself thinking it needs more.

Halloween Screams was wonderful! A great show worthy of the Disney brand. Ghost Galaxy was different and not what I expected. But I do agree it needs more. I was there opening day and I felt it didnt deserve the 95 minute wait it had (thank god for Breakfast in the Park and Fast pass). Holiday HM was also packed having a 30 min wait on opening day & Disney had the FP going for this (something they dont do during summer).
I will NEVER go on opening day for these attractions again. It really wasnt bad, but I foolishly thought being the end of Sept crowds would be minimal & it was 100 degrees. So I didnt get as much done as I would have liked.
Oh well, the halloween themed attractions are still a cant miss.
Can understand wanting to avoid opening day.
We did the day after.
Wasn't that bad.
The line for HMH was fine because it is a fun line in the evening with plenty to look at.
SMGG took exactly seventy five minutes as was posted on the sign.
Definitely not worth the wait.
Maybe after some tweaking it will be.
I will ride it again during the season but ONLY with FP.
I've only made a day trip to the park so far, so I haven't seen all the Halloween elements live. I did go on Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy on Friday. I got in line at 11:45am, the standby wait time was 75 minutes. The fastpass return was around 8pm.
I enjoyed this holiday overlay. I though the music, sound effects and ghost images worked well together. There are certainly some tweeks they could do to make it a little better. Though, I'm looking forward to going on it again.
Also, they've added projections, and sound effects on the outside of Space Mountain. I haven't been there at night yet, but the little bit I've seen online looks pretty cool. I've heard some people like what Disney did on the outside of Space Mountain, more than the effects inside the ride.
I have not seen the new Halloween fireworks show live yet, but I did watch it on YouTube. A lot of people thought this summers firework show "Magical", was a big step backwards from "Remember". From what I've seen online, "Halloween Screams" looks very, very good. The show seems to be getting a lot of positive feedback. I can't wait to see this, though I probably won't get back to the park for another week or so.
My thoughts exactly.
The outside of SMGG is amazing.
Great effects, lighting and sound.
Inside needs to be tweaked more.
Halloween Screams is definitely closer to Remember than Magical was.
HS drew me in quickly and enjoyed it very much.
Magical, I kind of had to add the fun myself. I did get choked up when Dumbo appeared even though I knew he was coming.
The DF and I were there yesterday and boy was it packed! We were surprised at how many people pulled their kids out of school. It seemed like a lot of AP holders to me though. Which reminds me... DF and I took the leap and bought APs! I am so stoked! We bought the Deluxe passes. I know everyone says "say no to blackouts" but this pass works better for us. We are fortunate enough to have flexible work schedules (3 12 hour shifts a week) that will allow us blocks of days to sojourn down south!
Congrats on the AP Tinkebella.
You must choose which pass works for you.
Personally I don't want them to be able to tell me I can't get into the park.
Granted on the really busy days, why would I want to be inside anyhow?
We are heading down on October 11th, our first day in the park will be the 12th. Can't wait! It's our first time at Halloween. I do hope it's not too busy. We plan to get there early and stay late each day--and head to CA if it gets crazy. We are APs and are pulling all of our 6 kids out of school. It's our last family trip to DLR before oldest DD turns 18 and goes off to college.
Have a good time!
Make sure to check out Halloween Screams! (My personal favorite)
As well as Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy and Haunted Mansion Holiday.
I was just at Disneyland on October 3rd for my 50th birthday. Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy was fantastic! We had to wait about 45 min in the handicapped line. It was worth the weight. We missed the fireworks and Fantasmic. Next time I go to Disneyland, I will spend 2 days and find an inexpensive hotel near by.
I used the Electric Convenience Vehicle and it was great! It was so much easier to get around, since I am handicapped due to being hit by a car last December. I never had to charge it. My only gripe is that people walk right in front of me and I am afraid I will run them over!
I am so ready to go back!

I liked the description of Space Mountain's Ghost Galaxy that my DS texted to me while he was at Disneyland earlier this week . . .
"That was not scary. That was campy. There should have been three silhouettes in my lower right peripheral cracking jokes the entire ride."
I have to agree, as much as I liked DL and the Halloween Time overlays, Ghost Galaxy was lame. Apparently the seat of young girls behind DW and I didn't think so as my head was still pounding from all the I scream then you scream stuff, but we were not impressed at all. Saves me having to stand in line for it ever again... sweet more time in New Orleans for me!

D
We are back and sort of had a great time.
DD got the flu while there and was in the hotel room for a few days, so that was a little disappointing.
Ghost Galaxy was ok, but not terribly scary, even our smallest DD wasn't scared in the least. She laughed out loud and even the castmember at the exit commented "she doesn't look scared." I LOVED the fireworks though, saw them twice. We were there for 5 days and got everything done we wanted to eventually, DH thought there were less villains out than what he expected, but we did see a few and the characters looked so interesting in their costumes.
I just couldn't believe how BUSY it was, Friday DL was at capacity. It was great to have the extra hours at night, but I think we prefer early December.
