Yes, just a point of order... I am not disparaging anybody regarding this. I am just surprised more people don't see it this way.

I'm just happy they're giving us something, instead of taking something away.
Well, here's another side to the problem. My little boy (4) says he'd like to dress up like a pirate because it sounds fun but he doesn't think he can because he's afraid his hero(Peter Pan) will see him and not like him.
I don't know whether to push him since he seems to want to do the pirate makeover or just be glad to save the $.
My daughter will definitely do the BBB again. We had a wonderful experience there last year.
This is true to a point. Since, as a guest, we are already paying quite a lot of money to vacation at the WDW Resort. What they are "giving" is a chance to spend quite a few more dollars on something.
As a Capitalist, I applaud this move. It does give Disney the ability to make more money. But I feel my money on my children would be better spent elsewhere when in Disney.
I'm so sad! :crying:
We are going to be there June 13-20, so we'll miss it! Maybe we can hope for a soft opening?
We did P&PP last year for DS 5th bday and this year we're staying in the Pirate room at Caribbean Beach so we are :pirate: fans!!
Thanks Jason! :mickey:
I don't mind paying for good memories- especially on vacation! ;) And since we are going during Free Dining, I think we'll have extra funds to spare. My boys are gonna love this!
Also, anything that costs money is meant to make money for someone else, that should be no surprise to anyone. I think that sometimes people get it in their heads that Disney is only out to make people happy, and forget that they are a business. If the only way I could enter Adventureland is to fork over money for the pirate makeover, then yes, I'd be upset. But, just because something is offered for sale, doesn't make it a 'money sink'. If a parent can't afford it, or does not want to spend their money on it, then just say no. No need to poo-poo it for everyone else. :)
I certainly don't have a problem saying 'no' to my kids - they hear it all the time, but we did the BBB as a treat with all our girls last time and they absolutely loved it. We didn't do the Castle package, but the memories they have haven't faded after two years so it was well worth the $50 to us.
This time around I have one princess who's converting to a pirate :mickey:
?
Cool. It sounds like fun for the kids. I kind of have to agree with the others about cost. Disney has priced us out of even visiting the parks anymore. No matter how hard I try to save and take my family to Disney I just cannot come up with the money.
Things are so bad....
I have been trying to book this since yesterday. They are not up and running yet with it. They have told me that they do not have a date to be able to make reservations yet. They wanted me to check back in 3-4 days.
Just a FYI.
I am so excited that they have finally added this option! I agree with the needed dining option that should be added as well! It be totally cool to dine at "The Black Pearl" with Cap'n Jack one day and at the Castle with Cindy the next!
My DS5 is going to love this and he even saved up his own money to do it. Plus a Friend who is going down is also hoping to do this- which she is 34 years old. Not sure if she saved up her money yet tho.
Wish i was a kid again.:mickey:
Our four year old son will absolutely love this!!! Count us in...
RB is right in a way... Disney knows this has the potential to be a cash cow for them... So, they open it... Disney is a business after all.. And all businesses want to make money... This shop is just another service they offer guests who are willing to cough up the money... They don't force anyone to buy their services...
1) There are unmentioned things in the release.
2) They also have
. . . a secret handshake you learn in the merchandise shop *
. . . ability to play a game online using your new pirate identity
* You are given a button which the CM must see, then they show you the secret pirate handshake.
Sounds pretty neat, even if it is another money sink. Good for Disney though. There's obviously a market for this, or I guess they're hoping there's one.
I agree though, they need to have a character-type meal where they use pirates and pirate regalia.
The heck with the kids! I think my DH would love to do this!! :number1:
So? has anyone actually done this yet???? I for one want to try it, and I am 36!
