Day 1 of Our Anniversary Trip Report 11/17 - 11/20
This trip actually signified a couple of things. First, the week of the trip marked 10 yrs since our first WDW trip and our 1st date (together a total of 10 yrs, married almost 4 of those years). Second, this was our last child-free trip--soon there will be 3 of us :mickey: (and our child's first trip will be a few years down the road). This trip, we just took our time & didn't rush (I tire easily these days, lol).
11/17: great flight from PHL to MCO. We landed at MCO, was met by our driver, and our bag came down very quickly. After a quick stop at Publix for our Pepsi products, it's off to the Poly.
We arrive at the Poly and head to the check-in line. The CM checking us in chatted with us & then said "...and, you've been magically upgraded!" I'm thinking "Sweet--king bed!" Turns out we were upgraded to concierge level (the Hawaii building). What a nice treat! Our room was ready (bonus!), so we headed to our room, got settled in, then we went to Capt'n Cook's for lunch.
Not a fan of Capt'n Cook's lunch/dinner menu. I don't know, it seems very limited. I had the grilled cheese, DH had the cheese flatbread. The grilled cheese was just too much for me--4 slices of bread...really? I barely put a dent in it. I think I finished less than half of it. DH's cheese flatbread had no taste to it. We took our desserts & drinks back to the room & I settled in to "rest my eyes" aka "nap" for a little while.
We had a dinner ADR at Le Cellier. DH & I went to Epcot & explored a little, of course hitting Club Cool (there are a few sodas I really wish I could get here in the States). We got as far as France , then headed back to Canada for dinner. Dinner was very good, I've yet to have a bad experience here (though, I do wish the cream cheese mashies came with the filet entree & weren't offered as an additional side).
We finished dinner and continued our walk around the World Showcase. Of course I had to check out the new Karamell-Küche. OMG...everything looked so amazingly good. The cupcakes just looked too pretty to eat, lol. I showed some restraint. I didn't buy any sweet treats (I can't believe it myself).
We left Epcot to return to the Poly. We went back to the room to relax for a little bit, then we headed to the lounge for a few nibbles & to watch Wishes. I love Wishes :mickey: It seemed like this time around, we noticed a little more how kids react to things in Disney, and some of their reactions made me appreciate Wishes that much more this trip.
